Discussion Board post your ppt. presentation and add comments
iLearn displays a discussion board where you can post your power points. The ppt. should be no more than 10 slides, you can speak from your notes to add more information. Length of presentation with narration no more than 15 minutes.
You will be able to look at everyone’s presentation and make comments on the discussion board page.
Create a case study from what you know or what you can find in their history. Please address any evidence of the celebrity contemplating suicide. The Suicide Risk Assessment is offered with examples in a case study on iLearn as a guide. I have numbered the steps to have you proceed with the process. PLEASE NOTE: I want this to be interesting for you. You have creative license over the narrative in the case study. If you need to add more information to support your diagnosis do so. The case studies have missing information that you may need to support your diagnosis. It is ok and sometimes necessary for you to fill in the blanks to support a particular diagnosis. Please be respectful and serious about this and use your investigation skills.
Your assignment will be to complete:
1. A diagnosis (use the DSM 5 criteria complete with code you can cut and paste this from online sites.) This is my attempt to get you to think- about diagnosis. You do not need to be 100% correct just- have an idea and explain why.
2. How do you meet your client today? Do they come into an office, at the hospital, voluntary, by police? Cite the reason.
3. Risk management (Risk for suicide found listed on iLearn)
4. Medications that might be effective for your client
5. Would you recommend Therapy and what kind?
* Be sure to use the DSM to see if you can match a diagnosis… What symptoms are ruled in or are ruled out?
This is just a practice to demonstrate the process. I am not expecting 100% accuracy. This is merely an overview to get you acquainted with the steps and considerations. There may be different views on diagnosis (this is ok it is just experimental).
Celebrity Diagnosis: Post Your Presentation (If possible, narrate your part, or have an audio on your PowerPoint. Please put names on the slides you contributed.) Another option: You can hold an IDT meeting on Zoom – Record and submit it.
If you are working alone it is similar in structure. The difference is, speak a bit about the process of the IDT since you will not actually be participating with others. Then, designate a role that you would be (like a therapist or social worker )and how you- would contribute to the process. What duty would you – be responsible for. Show how you agree or disagree with a diagnosis.
