Autobiographical Statements.

4. On the discussion board, complete the Session 1 Autobiographical Statements. Read others’ statements and comment on at least 3 to get to know each other in the class. I will have one posted there as well. This is a 5 point assignment. (30 min)

5. Every session, we will have readings from our textbook. You need to comment on those readings in the discussion board as part of your attendance. You can also earn extra credit by doing more than the minimum number of posts(see syllabus for details). I will abbreviate the book title Seagull with the pages required after that or SW for student writer.

These are the readings for Session 1 that I want you to discuss in our Discussion Board(DB). We will also include some of the readings in session 2’s Syllabus and Reading Quiz.

Reading due: Seagull pages 2-11 and Student Writer 3-8

In the discussion board, you can discuss important information, things that need clarification, or any related issues you thought of while reading. You can also reply to others’ questions and comments as well. Our weekly attendance goal is to make a total of 3 posts in the readings, each being 4 lines of text or longer. You can count replies to others in this. If you do more, they can count toward extra credit if you get enough done in one session. (3 hrs)

6. The last thing we are doing this first session is a writing the first draft of our essay 1. See The Handout below for assignment guidelines. The most important aspect that I am looking for in this first sample is the ability to make separate paragraphs and write a coherent story. This is meant to be more of a first draft so don’t take more than 2-3 hours to write the assignment.
