STEAM Presentation

– You will create a PowerPoint or Slides-to-go presentations on the following. Ensure to create a separate word
document for speaker notes for each slide (needs to be different from information on slides)

Instructions

Visual/Fine Arts and Coding (creative piece).
Using an educational coding website of your choice (i.e., Scratch or Tynker), create a short interactive story, game, or animation.

Include:
A) You will include your reflections on this activity, including any discussions and learning
around your knowledge of coding.

B) What other connections can you make between your own visual/fine arts gift and areas within the curriculum
science, math, technology for elementary learners?

C) Do you believe coding deepens students’ ability to problem solve, innovate, etc.?

You will provide:
1) an objective of the STEAM Action Presentation is clearly laid out.

2) Creative pieces demonstrated, performed, or displayed with thoughtful connections to more than 3 modules,
extensively. These connections demonstrate profound insight and understanding of how these concepts can
merge together to cultivate an enriching STEAM experience for students.

3) one discussion question related to cultural responsiveness and relevance for your peers.
(An excellent discussion question prompts the reader to consider the wider applications of their project to the
teaching profession, in a way that prioritizes student success and wellbeing)

– Consider an element of Indigenous pedagogy when developing your question. It’s important that we reflect on
these things as educators on an ongoing basis.

Things to keep in mind:
– Ensure the slides are easy to flow and there is a balance between text and visual. Provide key/main idea of
your thoughts to the actual presentation. Then provide speaker notes for each slide (on a sperate word
document).

– Any statements made regarding the effectiveness of a pedagogical practice or technique with regard to student
learning or development are supported with reference to the literature (APA
7th)

– Use the module reflections as supports and the references within them
ONLY.

– SEE the RUBRIC for what is expected in the presentation.
