Reflection Analyses (Each reflection analysis is a maximum of 5 paragraphs): These assignments require you to read and then respond to a peer-reviewed journal article. Your instructor will provide you with the choices of
articles that you may use for these assignments. You are to read 1 of the articles. The body of the reflection
analysis should contain 2 main points. First, you will explain what you learned from reading the article. Based
on the article that you read, you will then advance an argument as to how that research can be expanded. In
addition to the 2 main points, you will need to include an introductory paragraph and a concluding paragraph. You will need to include in-text citations/references and a reference section. Note that each reflection analysis is a formal, written assignment. Each analysis is evaluated for grammar and writing style. Additional
instructions will be provided.
Requirements of the assignment
Choose 1 of the 3 posted articles to read. For the first reflection analysis. You have the choice of any of the
posted articles. Those articles are posted on Canvas under this assignment.
Read the article. Make notes about anything that “catches your eye.” In other words, what do you find
interesting about the information contained in the article? Read the entire article, but your focus should be on
the “results” section, the “discussion” section, and the “conclusion” section. Do not cite from the abstract. Do not cite “what you learned” from the literature review.
Given your personal notes, choose 1 idea that for you, is the most “thought-provoking.”
The body of the reflection analysis consists of 2 main points.
An explanation of what you learned from reading the article.
Hint: You should use direct quotations from the article as a basis
for your argument. Those quotations should come from the discussion, results, and/or conclusion sections.
Link those direct quotations to your argument. You must use APA format for citations.
Avoid using quotations from the abstract!
Understanding that this is not a research or methods-based course, consider what argument might you make as to how research related to the specific journal article that you have read could be expanded (In class, we
will discuss some arguments that you should avoid.). If you use any of the author’s/authors’’ suggestions for expanding the research, then you must give credit to the author/authors.
Your reflection analysis must contain an introductory paragraph and a concluding paragraph.
You must include a reference (i.e., the journal article).
Refer to Writing Tips. Grammar and syntax are a part of the overall grade for this assignment.
