Learnign about Qualitative Methods – Artificial Intelligence

To learn together about three different methods to collect qualitative data: Observations, Interviews, and Focus Groups.
To learn by teaching. This is a pedagogical tool that adds to your life skills in addition to knowledge on the subject matter,
To help each other cover the material by providing a helpful summary that everyone can understand.
To prepare you for next week’s activities.
To help you identify key elements to incorporate into your final project.

Pick one of the readings from the list below (there are eight readings. As a team, you don’t need to cover all of the readings; however, you NEED to cover the three topics: Observations, Interviews, and Focus Groups.)
Let your team members know in advance which reading you’ll be summarizing.
Post your summary on the discussion board
Your summary should
Start with a clear identification of the type of work, title, author, and main point in the present tense.

Example: In the feature chapter entitled “Field Research,” the author, Amy Blackstone, explains what field research is, how to use it, when to use it, and discusses its advantages and disadvantages.

Cover the reading’s most essential points and sections.

DO NOT include your own ideas, opinions, or interpretations in the summary.

Use “summarizing language.” Periodically remind your reader that this is a summary by using phrases such as the article claims, the author suggests, etc.

Include a complete bibliographic citation at the beginning of your summary. A full bibliographic citation includes, as a minimum, the title of the work, the author, the source.

Be no longer than 700 words.

This is a group activity, but you will be graded individually based on the quality of your summary.
