For this assignment you can visit either the Denver Art Museum in person, or go to one of the online museum links provided at the bottom of the page. The first Saturday of each month at the Denver Art Museum are free.
Select a piece of artwork to evaluate, this can be a painting, print, ceramic work, textile, photograph, sculpture, or any of the other media mentioned in the textbook. In chapter 1, page 20, the author lists some purposes of Art. For your selected piece of artwork, describe what purpose it serves (it may be more than one), and describe who and why you believe this particular artwork was made. Give your personal response to the work, do you feel that it serves the purpose it was made for? Do you find it aesthetically pleasing or not?
