Perspectives in Psychology

Step 1: Pick TWO of the perspectives (please review the perspectives presented in Chapter 1, 1.3 – Modern Perspectives) listed below:

Step 2:
Read the following case study: Case Study: Andrea . Please note this case study contains possible disordered eating behaviors. Please note if you find this case study extremely disturbing, please contact me to request another case study. Please understand all case studies will contain some type of disordered behaviors, as this is a Psychology course.
Decide how a psychologist using your perspective(s) would explain the CAUSES of Andrea’s disordered behavior/problem. Do not rely on common sense and intuition in discussing this case. Imagine that you are a dyed-in-the-wool advocate of these particular viewpoints or perspectives and make your arguments from those points of view. Please be sure you have thoroughly read the content modern perspectives of psychology, presented in chapter 1. You will be graded on the accuracy of the application of the perspective to the case study content or any plausible hypothetical content. You can include hypothetical information as long at is is plausible given the content provided in the case study. (includes the title page)
Be sure you are presenting applications that fit with the perspectives you selected.
Please remember this is not a diagnosis paper. Please do not present multiple paragraphs addressing possible diagnoses, the case study does not contain enough information to make a diagnosis. You will lose points if your paper contains too much content about possible diagnoses.
Please be sure to present the paper in the following organization format:
Title page – Please include your name, course name, title of your paper and the two perspectives you selected – 1 page
Introduction and Brief synopsis of the case study. Provide a brief synopsis of the case study. At the end of the synopsis, present the two perspectives you selected. – 1/2 page
Present Psychological Perspective # 1 as an explanation for the disordered behavior in the case study. The perspective should be clearly stated and explained. Be sure to present strong connections between the perspective and the information presented in the case study. If you present outside information/plausible hypothetical example please be sure to explain this content is presented as a hypothetical example, rather than a fact. – at least 1 full page.
Present Psychological Perspective # 2 as an explanation for the disordered behavior presented in the case study. The perspective should be clearly stated and explained. Be sure to present strong connections between the perspective and the information presented in the case study. If you present outside information/plausible hypothetical example please be sure to explain this content is presented as a hypothetical example, rather than a fact. – at least 1 full page.
Conclusion. Please be sure to tie everything together in regards to the perspectives you selected. You may include one line here about a possible diagnosis. If you feel as though you must diagnosis the patient in the case study. This should be the only line in the paper that mentions a possible diagnosis. This paper IS NOT a diagnosis of the client’s behavior. -1/2 page
