Invasive Species Paper (due in Unit Three)
Write a paper on the Purple Loosestrife, Asian Carp, and either Zebra Mussels, Sea Lamprey, or Round
Gobie. For each species, cover the following:

• Describe the physical nature of the invasive species – appearance, habitat, etc.
• How does it compete with native species, and with which species does it compete?
• What environmental impact might it have if left uncontrolled?
• What economic impact might it have if left uncontrolled?
• What are some efforts made to eradicate it or control its growth and spread?

An Invasive Species Reference List is included in Unit Three’s materials to help get you started. You may
also use other resources. The paper should be APA formatted and have citations for every reference,
including those on the reference page. The completed paper should be between 5–6 pages long (roughly
2 pages per species).
