What are the political barriers to implementing this policy?

Your paper will require choosing an environmental subject to study using an environmental politics lens. First, you will identify a subject: a plant, an animal, a place, a group of people, etc. Try to think about scope here. For instance, if you choose “humans,” this subject may be too broad to thoroughly investigate – given the size of this paper. However, if you think about a group of people – i.e. Zapatistas of the Chiapas – you may have a more bounded investigative study. Consider: How does environmental policy interact here? Is the subject affected or protected by particular policies? What actors are involved? How are they involved? Ask yourself the following questions: what political policy would actually solve the problems your subject faces? What is the appropriate political scale for solving the problem (local, state, national, or international)? Have similar policies worked elsewhere or at other times in the past? What are the political barriers to implementing this policy? Can they be overcome?
