Create a kindergarten portfolio. It may include different activities, e.g., drawings, fun interviews (e.g., all about me), writing guides, this sort of information, that you use with all of your students, include a few of those in your portfolio. You can mock up some of these types of artifacts to put in your portfolios to show the variety of things you share with your families. If you don’t use an organized portfolio, think about the documents you send home with families after conferences or at the end of the year. Many of these momentos are often included in portfolios. Even pictures of the student within the classroom, playing with blocks, coloring with friends, making a craft at a class party.
A good idea is to show your parents how far their child has come from the beginning of the school year until now. Maybe the picture they drew of themselves at the first of the year was a stick figure. Today they can actually draw a self portrait that is more composed and beginning to look more like a person’s body.
Make sure to give a well rounded look at the child. Don’t just provide copies of assessments or observations.
You have a lot of leeway with this assignment. Be creative!
The only thing I ask is that you upload only one file for the portfolio portion of the assignment (don’t upload individual artifacts). Copy and paste your artifacts (pictures) into one power point file and upload that.
