We have seen in the literature, increasing rates of antenatal anxiety/depression and post natal depression and PTSD due to birth trauma. Birth trauma can be emotional or physical trauma. Continuity of care by a known midwife has been shown to prevent and decrease this occurrence.
Assignment question – Discuss the negative effects on antenatal/post natal anxiety/depression in relation to a woman planning her second birth following a very poor previous first birth experience.
