Students will review the Ontario Human Rights Commission (OHRC) eLearning module on Duty to Accommodate, including:
· The prelearning quiz
· Part I: The Code, Accommodation
· Undue Hardship
· Part II: Examples of Accommodation, and
· Complete the final Quiz to check what you learned (there are only 3 multiple choice questions).
Upon completion of the quiz, the students will print or take a picture of the quiz results page to submit along with the journal reflection. A score of at least 75% is required on the final quiz to get 2% grade for this assignment. You can review the online module several times and retake the quiz if needed. The remaining 13% will be a one-page, single-spaced reflection based on this eLearning module. The reflection can be uploaded in BlackBoard by going to “Tools” and then clicking on “Journals” to share your one-page reflection and a copy of the results page of the quiz.
Students are to consider the following questions as part of their reflection:
Given what you now know about the Code, the protected grounds, and accommodations, what are some best practices you might incorporate in your professional work?
How would you support someone who might need to be accommodated?
Having completed the e-learning module, why is human rights legislation important in addressing discrimination?
