For the assessment you will discuss the concept of innovation and education, and then select and analyse an example of educational innovation. The criteria you will be judged against are below:

Examine what ‘innovation in education’ is and the factors which influence it, identifying a specific example of an educational innovation.
Assessment Criteria:
A discussion of what constitutes educational innovation based on relevant theory, research, and policy.
A critical analysis of the political, economic, social, cultural, and technological influences on educational policy.
Research, select and describe a recent example of educational innovation including a justification of why it has been selected.
Part 2 (worth 50% of the grade)
Evaluate your chosen educational Innovation with consideration of how it could be used in your own professional context.
Assessment Criteria:
Critically evaluate the background and rationale for the selected educational innovation drawing on theory, research and policy discussed in part 1.
Critically evaluate the effectiveness, or potential effectiveness, of the selected educational innovation drawing on theory, research and policy discussed in part 1.
Make recommendations relating to own future practice in relation to the critical discussions of the selected educational innovation.
My own notes on my chosen innovation:
For part 2, I would like to focus on the IB(International Baccalaureate) curriculum in International Schools, more specifically the innovation associated with the IB system’s final assessment, and the innovation associated with Collaborative Planning that takes place among the teachers within IB schools as opposed to other school systems.
