This assignment asks you to analyse the role of learning, education, or schooling (LES) in society by critically reflecting on your own experiences. Choosing a course theme to focus on (see below), you will draw on core issues, theories, methods, and ethnographic case studies discussed in ANTH 215 to critically reflect on how LES has contributed to shaping who you are. This assignment encourages you to critically engage with core issues in the anthropology of education by connecting them with your own personal experiences.
The critical reflection essay will consist of two parts:
1. The first part will provide a reflexive, ethnographic account of your experience, introduce your thesis statement, and explain how your experience connects to ANTH 215.
2. In the second part, you will draw on course material (lectures, readings and other assigned material, class discussions, etc) to critically reflect on and analyse your experience and how it has contributed to shaping who you are
