argumentative typologies

Many theories concerning the development of a human being into a serial killer have been postulated over the years. Some have even argued that the heinous nature of such crimes might be functional to maintaining an orderly society. Your text details the theories as to what results in the depraved mind of a serial killer from three perspectives. The authors explore biological, psychological, and social phenomena that may result in the development of a serial killer. However, they and others still contend that there is not definitive understanding. The argument of nature verse nurture is still very much alive with regard to identifying serial killers and presenting serial murders. Are serial killers the result of genetic or biological factors, or are they the result of the rearing and social influences?
This essay will be an argumentative paper intended to prompt your exploration of the various factors that may or may not result in a person becoming a serial killer. You are to take a stance and assert your personal opinion as to which is the more likely causal factor (nature or nurture). In turn, you must identify and describe at least three theories and substantiate them with valid sources that support your stance. Additionally, you must identify three theories that contradict your stance and detail how it is that these are invalid, in your opinion. In this essay you will answer four questions:
1. Is the development of a person into a serial killer the result of natural circumstances or social factors?
2. Identify and describe at least three theories that support your stance.
3. Identify and describe at least three theories that contradict your stance.
4. How is it that the contradictory theories are invalid?
Bear in mind, again, that there is no definitive understanding to the questions posed by this prompt despite many theories. Your response to this prompt will require you to assert personal opinions that you cannot “Google” or otherwise obtain. You will have to develop them through substantial research efforts. Your findings in those efforts should cogently substantiate your opinions.
