In this first chapter, we are introduced to a few sociological and criminological theories that can be applied to criminal activity. Please select one theory and interpret it in your own words. Make sure you cite sources in your description. Next, select a crime (e.g., mass shootings, Capitol insurrection, sex trafficking, child pornography, opioid epidemic) and explain how it affects society. Lastly, explain what policy implications this explanation will yield. Depending on the crimes that you select, there will be class or racial issues involved so make sure you highlight the social issues involved in the crime you select.
