Review Attachment Theory by John Bowlby in chapter 7. Bowlby defined 7 essential
features of his attachment theory: Specificity, Duration, Engagement of emotion
(particularly the emotion of fear), Course of development, Learning, Organization, and
Biological function.
1. Compare what Bowlby theorized with the findings in the article about the children
detained at the border and separated from their families. Focus on the 7
essential elements of Bowlby’s theory.
2. Point out how each of the7 essential features may impact migrant children who
are separated from parents or caregivers.
3. Describe what types of mental health problems are emerging from these
children?
4. Will they be inclined to criminality? Explain why or why not.
5. How can we intervene to stop the possibility that criminal behavior may emerge?
