Grief theory, resilience , Stress, Significant Life events – CASE

CASE: Daivari is a single father to Michael, who is 16 years old. He has raised him on his own since his mother died 10 years ago. Michael had completed his secondary school education, they have a low income, with no car and lived on the 5th floor in a block of flats in Kensington without lift access. Michael is now looking at a college in Oxford and considering moving to live in Oxford with Daivari’s sister Angela.
Despite the college being a significant distance from their home, Daivari has set his heart on going to this college, as it offers the exact engineering course he wants to study. Daivari is worried about how he will visit his son and if he will return home at the end of his studies.

QUESTIONS:
Read the case study and use a relevant model of loss or grief to analyse how this move might impact Daivari and his wider social network. Identify and analyse the different coping strategies which Michael may use to cope with this life event. You should consider the factors that may enhance or inhibit a person’s resilience and discuss how this may impact Daivari coping skills.

Selecting an Agile System Development Methodology
The management of Fab Flowers, a flower and gift delivery company, has approved the development of a new vehicle

As a preliminary step, your manager has asked you to select a system development methodology to use with the SDLC for the development of the project. After reviewing many of the methodologies (waterfall, agile, Rapid Application Development, V-shaped, Evolutionary Prototype, etc.), you have determined that an agile development methodology would be most appropriate for the project. What are the effects of race, gender, employment opportunities, and education in regard to white-collar or blue-collar jobs?

In Unit 3, our texts describe the issues surrounding how society works and the effects of various obstacles people must overcome to work. Keep these discussions in mind as you begin writing your essay.

Essay Prompt:

Using the four articles listed below, address this prompt: What are the effects of race, gender, employment opportunities, and education in regard to white-collar or blue-collar jobs?

“Blue-Collar Brilliance”
“Pedagogy of the Oppressed”
“Preparing Minds for Markets”
“I was a Warehouse Wage Slave”

Draw on specific points from these readings, and explain how a synthesis of these readings deepens the understanding of blue-collar and white-collar employment. How does this understanding allow people to identify potential contradictions in the society in regard to work and who is able to succeed in a given profession? How can people begin to identify elements of a crisis in preparing children to enter the workforce? Lastly, how might the readings begin to point towards strategies for overcoming these negative attitudes towards blue-collar jobs as well as white-collar jobs? [Hint: one strategy is not “work hard and you will succeed.”

Essay Components:

Please compose an introduction with a thesis and one-sentence summaries for all readings as well as providing general information that synthesizes the major themes addressed in the reading. (8 Sentences)

Provide at least nine body paragraphs (9 sentences) that address one point you are making about your thesis statement. In addition, follow the paragraph format that you have in your notes: Topic sentence, explanations, quotation/commentary/citation, relate quotation to the topic sentence, and a 5 sentence analysis focusing on the point made in the topic sentence.

Also be sure that you clearly make acknowledgments and citations of each reading selection, in-text and with a works cited page, of the authors and readings from which you draw ideas.

Conclusion with summary statements and a general statement that suggests a solution that stems from the readings (4 sentences)

Careful proofreading
