TRAUMA AND ADOLESCENT DEVELOPMENT

Trauma encompasses such events as child abuse and neglect, sexual assault, violence, incarceration, natural disaster, sex trafficking, traumatic grief, and bullying—and can occur at any age. Even after the immediate threat has passed, the trauma can continue to influence a person’s life in negative ways.
For adolescents, trauma can interfere with typical biological, psychological, and social development occurring at this stage. Imagine the case of a teen who has been assaulted. That person may become withdrawn and avoid social interaction as a direct result of the trauma experienced, thus impacting their social development.
In this Discussion, you assess how trauma has influenced an adolescent and how you might assist as a social worker.

Review the Learning Resources on trauma, adolescence, and social work with adolescents. Pay particular attention to the Levenson (2020) article.
Access the Social Work Case Studies media and navigate to Brady and to Tiffani. Choose one on which to focus this Discussion. (TRANSCRIPTS ATTACHED BELOW FOR BRADY AND TIFFANI)

Post an assessment of the trauma the adolescent has experienced and how that may impact their development. Bearing in mind that environmental concerns have been addressed, utilize your advanced-level skills to identify a modality that is appropriate for the developmental stage. Finally, describe some assumptions and pitfalls of the modality as it relates to the population.

Boyz in da hood

Locate and read at least three reviews, popular articles, or blog posts that respond to the film that you have chosen to analyze. Try to find a variety of responses to your chosen film. In other words, take note of whether the responses come from different age groups, genders, professional reviewers or informal bloggers, and so on.
Apply the research questions you developed in task 3-1 to the sources you have found. What do these reviews reveal about the assumptions and expectations that audiences bring to your selected film and the social issues it portrays?
The findings you obtain through your research will inform your sociological analysis and the conclusions you drawLocate and read at least three reviews, popular articles, or blog posts that respond to the film that you have chosen to analyze. operation analysis

Choose any food and beverage (F&B) based operation from the UK, Europe or the World (the more
specific you are the better i.e. not just a restaurant but the type of restaurant and even the name of
a specific operation. You can choose any foodservice operation or a flight caterer or prison food
provision or … ).
You are acting as an external consultant and have been asked to advise the operation’s management
team on the key measures of operational performance that they should use to help control their
business.
Initially you should summarise the chosen operation and review it critically. This will involve
summarising the key positive and negative features of the operation and supporting these with
external sources. It may well be that some of the negative features you highlight form areas you
propose to measure below.
You will need to select, describe and justify two different measures of operational performance
(operational KPIs) related to F&B operations, using the literature as appropriate, that you feel would
provide them with the key information they need to manage that operation effectively.
So do not just think of what the measures are and details of how, where and when they would be
calculated but why they are particularly relevant to the operation you have chosen. How will using
these measures help them to manage this particular operation?
The measures should allow you to control the operation on a day to day basis and so should be
clearly operationally focussed and not the sort of measures or ratios you would use in financing the
business.
You do not need to calculate measures. Just explain why you have chosen them and how they allow
you to manage this F&B operation effectively.
You should include an executive summary which highlights the key issues you have discussed and
your proposals to the management team. 1400 words excluding the refrences and the cover page.

Stratification and Inequality

Overview:
One of the most crucial components of this course is developing a research project from conceptualization to completion. Throughout the class, you created a research study based on publicly available data from the General Social Survey (GSS). You chose data which were representative of your interests and satisfied your research question and hypotheses. The Final Project: Guide to Completing the Research Study is where you pull together the research you’ve been working on the first six weeks of class.
Instructions:
Complete the following assignment by filling all requested information into the worksheet. You will need to utilize SPSS and the GSS data set provided in class to complete it. Use a different, but legible, color font for your responses. This assignment is intended to help you complete the writing of a quantitative research essay/article, with particular emphasis on the Findings and Conclusion sections.
General requirements:
• Submissions should be typed, double-spaced, 1″ margins, times new roman 12 pt font, and saved as .doc, .docx, or .pdf.
• Use APA format for citations and references
• View the grading rubric so you understand how you will be assessed on this Assignment.
• Disclaimer: Originality of attachments will be verified by Turnitin. Both you and your instructor will receive the results.
• This course has “Resubmission” status enabled to help you if you realize you submitted an incorrect or blank file, or if you need to submit multiple documents as part of your Assignment. Resubmission of an Assignment after it is grades, to attempt a better grade, is not permitted.
This Assignment meets these course objectives:
CO1: Describe and apply the concepts and logic of elementary statistics.
CO2: Conduct statistical analysis in SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences).
CO3: Compare and contrast different types of data and the statistics that can be used to analyze them
CO4: Examine the differences between descriptive and inferential statistics and their use in the social sciences.
CO5: Complete and interpret descriptive and inferential statistical data analysis.
CO6: Develop a research project from conceptualizing a research problem and develop a number of complementary design, measurement, and data collection approaches to bring evidence to bear on the problem.
CO7: Form critical interpretations of quantitative research literature in sociology and other social sciences, critically evaluating the quality of research design and evidence in published social research.

Poverty Simulation

Poverty Simulation. Participate in the online poverty simulation located at http://www.marketplace.org/2012/10/05/wealthpoverty/could-you-live-438-week. Write a paper that describes your feelings as you participated in this exercise. Did you experience feelings of frustration, hopelessness, etc.? How much money did you end with, and what were some of the difficult choices you made? Did anything about the exercise surprise you? Was it an exercise you or someone you know could relate?
Requirements: APA-compliant formatting; a minimum of 500 words; text and professional journals may be utilized for sources.

Education Policy Analysis

Rewrite of a policy review paper.
***Paper must be in clear US English grammar and spelling
Basic outline of paper is done. The focus of the paper is what is shifting. Any and all mention of slavery in reference to boarder states needs to be removed!
** Boarder states are those that boarder Virginia as a matter of LOCATION only. ie what are the similarities and differences in the states that touch the state of Virginia in regards to their policy.
The paper should focus on current policy and laws regarding employment after a felony in the field of teachng.

minimum has been lowered to 10 pages. I would strive for at least 15 pages, with the highest amount of content represented in the Literature Review. As a general (not exact) guide, I recommend at least:

Chapter 1: 2 – 3 pages
Chapter 2: 8 – 10 pages
Chapter 3: 3 – 4 ages
Chapter 4: 2 – 3 pages

Guiding notes for focus
The National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certifications Model Code of Ethics for Educators is often used as the foundation for state-level and local policies. Others that may inform state and local policies are the Association of American Educators Code of Ethics for Educators and the National Education Association Code of Ethics for Educators. I recommend using those as a starting point and then explore how the various states in your study have interpreted them in their own Code(s) of Ethics or Code(s) of Moral/Professional Conduct. Explore if there are legal cases involving teachers that resulted from a “breach” of these codes. Do the state-level codes vary in how detailed or “strict” that they are? Are there any particular aspects of the various codes that stand out?

Paper should be built around the following
Context
The Fair Chance to Compete for Jobs Act of 2019 (Fair Chance Act) was passed to address how and when federal employees can consider criminal records in employment opportunities. Within the Act, there are provisions for how criminal records can be considered by public employers and occupational licensing agencies.
Federal laws are in place to address criminal background checks for care providers in vulnerable populations, including teachers.
States determine the standards that must be met in order for professional educations to obtain a state-level teaching license.
There are efforts to restrict licensing agencies from preventing the employment of applicants with prior criminal records (see here: https://ccresourcecenter.org/state-restoration-profiles/50-state-comparisoncomparison-of-criminal-records-in-licensing-and-employment/)
Focus of Your Analysis
Following the establishment of the Fair Chance Act, this research focuses on the current status of how Virginia, and the bordering states of NC, MD, TN, KY, WV, plus the District of Columbia are similar and different in terms of their policies related to crimes that will prevent teachers from becoming certified and obtaining licenses in their states. In other words, what crimes can prevent certification and licensure, by state? Are there processes to appeal? Etc.
Resources you may find helpful

“The Many Roads to Reintegration”: A 50-state report on laws restoring rights and opportunities

Main idea – What laws or policies does the state of Virginia have that prevents an individual from holding a license and being hired as a teacher in the state. Are there any crimes that will bar the individual for life from becoming a teacher?
Once that is established – how do the states listed that boarder Virginia compare in policy. Are they the same? Do the same crimes bar an individual for life? Is there a restablishment route after a crime?
For example only if an individual commits a felony in one state can they become a teacher later in life? Does the type of felony matter? All felonies some felonies, case by case basis?

Some of the references can still be used. Any regarding salvery will need to be removed.

PRACTICE TOOLBOX: ADOLESCENT ASSESSMENT

Deciding on which assessment tools to use, and when, can feel like a confusing process. For example, should you screen all adolescent clients for substance use regardless of presenting problem? Should you ask about suicide in every session or only when it feels like it could be a concern?
Such questions are made murkier by the adolescent development stage itself, which is characterized by major physical changes that can lead to mood issues. These mood issues, at the surface, may appear to be signs of mental illness but could just be the natural progression of the adolescent years.
In this Assignment, you examine assessment tools that would be appropriate for adolescent clients. As you explore the tools, you may find greater clarity about their use.

Access the Online Assessment Measures link in the Learning Resources.
On that site, explore at least three different assessment tools for adolescents under the various categories. A few that you may consider are: Level 2, Substance Use, Child Age 11 to 17; Severity Measure for Depression, Child Age 11 to 17; and Severity Measure for Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Child Age 11 to 17.
Select one assessment tool that you can see yourself using in practice with adolescent clients.
Consider why you have chosen this assessment tool and its strengths and limitations.

Submit a 1-page paper analyzing the adolescent assessment tool you have chosen:
Why did you select the assessment tool?
Why might it be especially helpful for use with adolescents?
What challenges or limitations might there be for this assessment tool?
Use the Learning Resources to support your Assignment. Make sure to provide APA citations and a reference list.
