Data Collection
Assignment Content
Statistical data is used to solve crime and find patterns of behavior. This is especially relevant when working to develop new policies. You have been asked to submit a proposal to your local city council in support of a community or proactive policing. In this assignment you will provide some context related to the collection, analysis, and application of data in creating policies.
Research a program in community policing or proactive policing that you support.
Write a 700- to 1,050-word proposal in which you:
Explain the issues surrounding the collection of data of the selected program.
Share an example of the analysis of that data and explain if you feel it is reliable. Why or why not?
Describe how the use of that data matters as it relates to the interpretation of the data. Explain how that relates to the policy you selected.
Explain how statistical data be utilized in criminal justice policy making.
Include at least two peer reviewed references.
Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines.
Using the Internet, locate an article or a case where a concept covered in the module is being applied. Submit a summary of your article/case. The summary must be in your own words.
The Assignment
Using the Internet, locate an article or a case where a concept covered in the module is being applied. Submit a summary of your article/case. The summary must be in your own words. Do not copy and paste the article or portions of the article as your summary.
Your summary must be a minimum of two fully developed paragraphs. You must Include the full URL for the case or article that you have located online to enable the instructor to read the article. You must clearly identify how the article/case relates to the module content.
Additional formatting requirements for your writing summary are as follows:
Put your name, course and section number, and assignment title at the top of the document.

make sure you are specifically stating how this relates to the present module. So, for example, you would simply state that we discuss the differences between the law and morality. Here, this demonstrates how sometimes the law may or may not be in line with one’s morality. That way, you have identified the relevancy of the material you located online. đ

PICOT questions are used for nursing decision making. But
research nursing starts with a problem that needs to be solved. PICOT questions
are related most of the time to diagnoses and the kind of therapy used to solve
that specific problem. PICOT questions are comparisons between interventions
used on a certain group of people. These questions are composed of the
demographic variable, the dependent variable, the hypothesis, the independent
variable, the problem stated and the research problem. Data is collected and
analyzed and used to find solutions. Questions are formulated to search for
evidence based information to choose important patients outcomes. The question
must be related to the group of the relevant patients who have the same issues,
or characteristics. What are the strategies used to intervene or manage the
problem. What strategies or other interventions can be used to control or
compare the one used. What are the outcomes or consequences of the strategies?
What is the time or period and what kind of studies are available to find
information needed to solve the problems. In the article, What is
your research question? An introduction to the PICOT format for
clinicians, the authors stated that
â…to
develop a strong research question framed in the PICOT format, it is an
important basis to understand both the clinical area of investigation and the
current literature that existsâ Riva, J. J., Malik, K. M., Burnie, S. J.,
Endicott, A. R., & Busse, J. W. (2012).
Some
PICOT example questions are, is legalizing Marijuana profitable for all cancer
patients or to everyone in general? Can turning a patient every two hours help
reduce pressure ulcers on older adults or all bed bound patients? Does raising
the head of the bed on high fowlerâs help prevent aspiration on patients with
high stroke conditions or all trauma patients?
For
research, a topic is chosen by the researcher depending on point of interest,
then try to find what kind of studies was done and what can be found to be
added to the information to make it more useful and more reliable through
Evidence Based-Practice. New ideas can come up when searching for topics. The
researchers have to think outside of the box. Find which information is used on
that previous research and which method was applied. Which items and
information are needed to be included in the research question. In the
article, Literature review as a research methodology: An overview
and guidelines, the author stated that
â
the researcher might identify a topic of interest and then review the nursing
research literature to determine which kinds of studies have been done in that
area. Seeing how other researchers have approached a problem can often spark
new ideas, or perhaps point to new studies that would benefit from replicationâ Snyder,
H. (2019).
Some
examples of research questions are:
Acute/Chronic
Renal Insufficiency nursing interventions, treatment and preventive strategies.
Infants
diabetes. An association caused by genetics or nutrition. Anorexia, changes in
how the brain functions and behavior. Asthma in children, diagnosis and
monitoring

The problem I identify in nursing is Infection control in the
hospitals. Health care-associated infections (HAIs) are infections that
patients acquire at the hospital or an healthcare setting. HAIs are one of the
top leading causes of death in the United States hospitals and healthcare
environment. Nurses have many roles and responsibilities, maintaining a
clean hospital environment is one of them. Nurses play a crucial role to prevent
patient illness in the hospital. The nurse prevent the spread of infection
such-as MRSA, CAUTIs, bloodstream infection, and pneumonia by using
implementing evidence-base infection control approach. ” Infection control precautions are a set of standard recommendations used
to reduce the risk of transmission of infectious agents from body fluids or
environmental surfaces that contain infectious agents” (MN health
department, 2019). This includes wearing the proper PPE to
protect the nurse and patients. Barrier precautions to keep people safe from
infected patients. Nurses washing their hands correctly and educate patients on
the proper way to preform hand hygiene. Something as simple as hand hygiene can
help avert the spread of infection. “Handwashing is one of the most effective ways to halt the
spread of illness. The best way to wash your hands is with water, soap, and
friction by rubbing them together’ (Myocarditis Foundation, 2020).

Discussion (Read books and write the answers to the question)
You need to read the science of fear chapter 2 and 3 pdf
files that I have attached below then answer to these questions. Your responses
to each of the questions should be at least 200 words long and should
incorporate specific examples and/or quotations from the text.
Here are the questions:
1. Gardner gives us a rather dire version of our modern
attitudes about the world around us: âOpen the newspaper, watch the evening
news. On any given day, thereâs a good
chance that someone â a journalist, activist, consultant, corporate executive,
or politician â is warning about an âepidemicâ of something or other that
threatens you and those you hold dearâ (6).
All of these dire warnings and predictions of doom and gloom, Gardner
argues, leads us to think that our world is always on the verge of collapse,
and that is why we live in fear of so many things. Do you see this in the world today? Are we a ârisk societyâ â overly concerned
with risks?
2. From page 19 to the very top of page 23 Gardner gives us
a very condensed lesson on the evolution of humans. What is the purpose of this four page
evolutionary review? How does it fit
into Gardnerâs ideas and the point(s) he is trying to make? Is doing this a good choice for him as a
writer? Explain yourself, of course.
3. Re-read the sections where Gardner discusses some of the
rules that influence our choices: Appearance equals reality (24), The Anchoring
Rule (36), The Rule of Typical Things (41), and The Example Rule (46). For three of the rules, describe a time you
have seen it working in everyday life, but do not use the any of Gardnerâs
examples.
4. Since this week is focused on ways you can use sources in
your arguments, pay attention to how Gardner incorporates source material into
his writing. Choose two instances in
each chapter (2 and 3) where he uses a source and make some observations about
how he uses them. How does he introduce
them? Why do you think he chooses to use
them as he does? In other words, if he
directly quotes a source, why quote it instead of summarize or paraphrase the
information? How is he using them? To support his idea(s)? For an acknowledgement to the
opposition? Just for entertainment
purposes? For an emotional appeal?
Exponential and Logarithmic Functions Week 3
This week you learned about exponential and logarithmic functions.
Respond to the following prompts in a minimum of 175 words:
Search the internet for real-world applications of logarithms or exponential functions. Share the application you discovered with the class along with how it relates to logarithms or exponential functions. Besure to cite the resource. What is the relationship between exponentials and logarithms?
