In this assignment you will provide some context related to the collection, analysis, and application of data in creating policies.

Research a program in community policing or proactive policing that you support.

Explain the issues surrounding the collection of data of the selected program.
Share an example of the analysis of that data and explain if you feel it is reliable. Why or why not?
Describe how the use of that data matters as it relates to the interpretation of the data. Explain how that relates to the policy you selected.
Explain how statistical data be utilized in criminal justice policy making.

Literature review on palliative care

i need a literature review, 5 peer reviewed scientific articles on palliative care – are options given soon enough to benefit the patient ( or something around that topic)

We will write a Literature Review–a type of review essay. Our Literature Review will consist of 5-8 peer reviewed scientific articles on a topic of your choosing. You should choose a topic related to your field of study. Your topic should be specific and should focus on the literature (research) from your field. Thus your topic shouldn’t be a report about well-established ideas–that is it shouldn’t be about what Diabetes is. Furthermore a good Literature Review focuses on an area of controversy, uncertainty, or debate within the field.

Goals:
1) Understand a particular genre of writing required in science research professions
2) Develop and expand critical thinking and analysis abilities
3) Practice correct format for citations
4) Develop understanding of content area of one area of interest in science OR Practice writing up individual research about one content area
5) Learn difference between peer-reviewed articles and other types of writing published in research journals.
More Details
As you compose your Literature Review you should both summarize and analyze the literature (the articles). What do they say? What did the researchers do and how? What’s the outcome? How does the research help us understand best practices or basic science better? What do we as a field need to do next?–more research, better implementation of what we already know, etc?
NOTE:
1. Make sure the journals are academic journals that are peer reviewed. The databases should tell you. If you can’t tell, go to the journal’s home page (Google it!) and in the “about this journal” section see if the journal says that it is peer-reviewed.
2. Make sure that you can get the full article, not just an abstract.
3. Make sure your article is not a literature review! In other words, only include studies. Don’t include any articles that are reviews of the literature. You can tell because literature reviews always compare studies or offer an overview of all the studies on a topic.
So What’s a Good Topic?
EXAMPLE OF BAD TOPIC: “Obesity and children” (too broad, vague, could write a book)
GOOD TOPICS: “Effectiveness of two obesity programs on childhood weight” OR “Effectiveness of nutrition education on childhood obesity” OR “Impact of exercise vs. diet programs for childhood obesity” OR “Comparing the impact of three diets on childhood obesity rates.”
Your Literature Review should have
ABSTRACT — put on a separate page at the beginning.
Introduction
Body of the paper (Results)
Discussion/Conclusion
References
5-8 articles
