Everything I Never Told You Argumentative Essay
How do the hapa children experience naturalized hypodescent? How does this experience influence their view of themselves and their relationships with others?
Minimum 1000 words, but write more if needed to fully develop your argument.
Deadline: Wednesday, 6/30 at 11:59 PM.
Some strategies to consider:
Identify and explain hapa consciousness and naturalized hypodescent early in the essay, perhaps in the introduction. Remember that naturalized hypodescent is a phenomenon in which a mixed-race child or person is racialized as the subordinate race in the social hierarchy (the nonwhite heritage). So, how do the children’s experience with being identified as Chinese/Asian rather than as mixed-race impact their relationships with their family/community and how they see themselves?
In the past, many students have written more about James’ experience as a Chinese American. Remember that James is monoracial, not a hapa person! While the parents play a major role in the children’s lives, center the children in the essay.
To keep the analysis fully developed, write about a single child: Lydia, Nath, or Hannah.
Use the quotation sandwich model for body paragraphs. Strong essays will consider and analyze the use of literary devices–I mention several in the video lectures.
You may recycle quiz responses, but remember to reframe/reformat to fit the genre of the essay and revise using my feedback.
Remember to write the novel’s bibliographical information in the Work Cited section.

Identify an existing policy or a proposed policy at the local, state, or national level.
To Prepare ( I would like to talk about the Expungment policy in Wisconsin)
Identify an existing policy or a proposed policy at the local, state, or national level.
Identify an existing law or a proposed bill that is linked to this policy.
Record relevant information about the policy in as complete a form as possible. For a bill, this includes the bill number and title. For an existing law or act, this includes the complete name of the law.
For example, you may have heard of a “504 plan,” but referring to a “504” is shorthand. The full title of the act is: Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
Be prepared to write a summary of the policy that is separate from the letter.
Consider the audience of your letter—someone who is familiar with the policy. Demonstrate that you know what the act contains in relation to what you are advocating for or against. However, you do not need to summarize the policy in the letter the way you do for your Instructor.
Tip: Write the summary before you write the letter. This will help ensure that you know the key points to raise in your letter.
Write a 2-page advocacy letter that will be sent via mail or e-mail to a public official supporting or opposing a policy under consideration at the local, state, or national level.
Your letter should be single-spaced. Although your academic papers are normally double-spaced, your letter should follow the form of a standard business letter.
Address your letter to the appropriate government representative.
Identify an existing law or a proposed bill associated with the policy issue and be sure to note the bill number and title or the official name of the law in the letter.
Be specific but brief so the letter recipient is very clear, as soon as possible, about what she or he is reading.
State your position on the policy, law, and/or bill.
Again, be specific but succinct.
Provide a brief rationale for your position.
Use your knowledge of the policy to stake out one to three concrete examples of why you are advocating for your position.
Conclude by informing the representative of steps you’d like to see taken to address this issue.
Write a 1-page summary of the policy and related law or bill that you have written about in your letter.
This is separate from your letter—it is for your Instructor and not for the letter recipient.
On a final page, include a reference list. Use APA style to list your references.
This list can include any newspaper articles, local publications like pamphlets, a government representative’s website that states a position, etc., that helped you to learn about the policy.
Discuss how you will encourage and incorporate such a holistic approach to counseling.
In chapter two McMinn discusses the intersection of psychological health and spiritual health. Discuss how you will encourage and incorporate such a holistic approach to counseling. This interactive can have a minimun of 400 words. McMinn’s book must be cited and sourced in the interactive. Chapter 2 of Mark McMinn’s book has also been attached.
In which of the 10 milestones in the development process can a developer apply the calling of stewardship?
In our economic endeavors, we have been entrusted with many things and have an obligation to use these things in accordance with God’s will. Our individual ownership is within the context of God’s absolute ownership.
Boggs (1961) states:
In biblical terminology, all the economic activity concerned with processing, distributing, possessing, and using material goods goes by the name of stewardship. Stewardship calls for an acknowledgment of God’s sovereignty in areas of the production and distribution of material goods, management and labor, wages and prices, capital and profits, ownership of property, and use of the tools of production. Man’s relationship to land, minerals, water, air, and living creatures is one of stewardship, of obligation to use all these things in accordance with the will of the sovereign Creator.
