I’m always amused by critics. They continue to prove a point that whatever they write is worthless and often simply mean spirited or arrogant. The first time I heard this duet was in a refugee camp. Two women, one Jewish and one a Bulgarian gypsy, both hoping to immigrate to USA, Canada or Australia would sing solos and duets every Friday night. This Offenbach duet was one of those pieces. Form:

The Balanced Scorecard
1. Use the source provided and find one other. For this assignment, write an introduction, body and conclusion.
( iFirst Define in your own word Balanced Scoreboard/ importance and dissavantage in the organization. Also, describe all the important factor associated with it)

For example, if your topic is “Recruiting High Quality Physicians,” you could write about how that impacts the organization strategically according to what you have learned. We learned that high-quality clinical personnel increases value to the patients, improves image, improves quality of care and clinical outcomes, reimbursement (revenue cycle), competitive advantage, etc. So, use demonstrate how any aspect of strategy applies to your topic.

Sex & Romantic Love
Do the “Expository” tasks meaning that it asks you to only explain an argument and not evaluate it
(“evaluating it” means taking your own stance and arguing for it), i.e. to explain a debate (an
objection against another view or argument) from the readings. Recall that a debate consists of an
argument that objects to some other argument or view – this latter argument/view being
the “target” of the objection
Also do an “EVALUATIVE” task: To take a stance on a debate and to
argue for your stance with your own reasons. Taking a stance on a debate means
taking a side, either the side of the objection or the side of the target argument or view
which the objection is aimed at undermining. If you take the side of the objection, then you
will need to give your own reasons – or argument – for thinking that the objection
succeeds in undermining the target argument or view it is aimed at; if you take the side of
the target argument or view being objected to in the debate, then you will need to give
your own reasons – or argument – for thinking that the objection fails to undermine the
target argument or view.
Thomas’ Objection to the View That Sex Is Necessary to Romantic Love
• Natasha McKeever presents a view about romantic love, on which sex is necessary
for a relationship to be considered a romantic relationship in typical cases (typical
cases being those in which there are no reasons that the romantic partners do not want to have sex or cannot have sex in general). Laurence Thomas objects to this
view, using his hypothetical example involving two crystal glasses to do so. In his
example, there is a convention in society where when two people become good
friends, they purchase two crystal glasses together to symbolize their deep
friendship. Because he thinks that the expectations of fidelity that these friends
would have would mirror expectations of fidelity in romantic relationships, he
concludes that sexual attraction is not a necessary part of the love in romantic
relationships. (Thomas’ argument occurs mainly on page 15, lines 23-61, although
some important other parts of his reasoning are stated on page 16, lines 49-56.)
• YOUR TASKS: First, explain McKeever’s view concerning the role that sex plays in
romantic love in typical cases.
Second, explain Thomas’ objection to this view –
that is, explain how Thomas uses his crystal glasses example to argue that sex is not
a necessary part of the love in romantic relationships.
Third, state your own stance
on the debate – i.e. whether you think that Thomas’ crystal glassware objection
successfully undermines McKeever’s view (that sex is necessary for romantic love)
or not – and defend that stance at length with your own reasons.
Classroom Design for Preschool
Instructions for the Written Assignment
Image by Brian Hart, via flickr.com
For this creative project you will design a developmentally appropriate classroom. If you work in a program, please use it as a guide (complete with any space/material challenges you may have). If you do not work in a program, design one with everything you think you need. In your project be sure to include all the important components as outlined in your readings and the ECERS:
1. Be sure you include all the learning activity areas (dramatic play, music and movement, blocks, nature/science, etc.). They should be in clearly defined centers but be creative with your space!
2. Apply the guidelines from the ECERS to your project at an advanced level. For example, is the sink near the the art center? Are the loud areas separate from the quiet areas? Is there space for science experiments and/or cooking on a regular basis?
3. Please be sure that there is space for gross motor play.
4. When the design is complete please include a 4-5 page narrative that explains your choices. Be sure to cite the ECERS or at least list it as your primary source. For example, you aren’t required to have a computer or technology, but if you do have one in your design please be sure to explain the appropriate use of technology. Also, you may not have access to a sink in the classroom so be sure to note how this might affect your score.
Tools:
You may design your classroom in whatever format is comfortable for you; word document, powerpoint, or paper and pencil. When it is complete, it should be scanned and uploaded with your essay. If you prefer, you are welcome to use the online resource, Classroom Architect Opens in a new window. The save function in Classroom Architect is there so you can temporarily save a drawing in order to compare it to another drawing in the same session. Once you close your Web browser, all saved floor plans are removed. If you want to save a floor plan, the best way is to use the Print Screen button on your keyboard to take a picture of the screen and save it as a graphic. Save it as a GIF or JPG file, crop it in an image editor like Photoshop or Paint (there are free image editors online if you don’t have Photoshop; your computer might also come with an image editor).
Please submit your written paper as well as the design (or link to your classroom design) in the submission space provided here. To review the grading criteria, please visit the Classroom design assignment evaluation rubric Opens in a new window.
Career Intervention Program Design
For this assignment, you will design a program of career intervention(s) for a target
population. When
selecting your population, consider the career development theories
discussed in our course. Design your intervention based on the theory you feel would
best meet the needs of your population chosen. Interventions should include at least
one quantitative (i.e., used to gather numerical data) and one qualitative (i.e., used to
gather responses to open-ended questions) career assessment with a rationale for why
these particular assessments were chosen. (Examples of qualitative assessments can
include games, card sorts, genograms, etc.)
Your design will include the following:
• selection and description of a target population (e.g., high school students)
• description of the needs or presenting concern of your target population (e.g.,
enhanced self-awareness, post-graduation planning) based on research and
guiding theory
• objectives of program (e.g., engage in career exploration)
• resources needed for your program (e.g., assessments, pens, rooms, etc.)
• length of program plan with rationale and meeting topics
• description of a quantitative and qualitative assessment for use with population
(e.g., Career Decision Scale [CDS])
• rationale for selection of specific assessments (e.g., age appropriate, etc.)
• method of communicating or interpreting results (e.g., special report, one-on-one
meetings
• methods and/or model of evaluation (e.g., satisfaction survey, objectives-based
model)
• potential issues, strengths, or obstacles to your design
