Here is the synopsis and the character details:
Synopsis: During the days leading up to Halloween, a group of senior high school friends make plans on how to celebrate only
to decide to go to a new county fair that’s in their town. The group dresses up in their costumes ready to party and start having fun at the fair only to realize that someone in a clown costume is slowly stalking them. Jacob Turner (the main character) and
his girlfriend (Lucy Alvarez) know something is up while the rest of their friends somewhat know but choose to ignore it. It’s only when one of their friends goes missing from the group that everyone starts worrying and starts a search. The public doesn’t seem to care and notice along with the security. As the group is split up, each person is slowly being hunted down by the clown killer (Damien Mares the Antagonist). Soon, everyone is drawn to a battle for survival on a dark and deadly Halloween night.
Protagonist: Jacob Turner
Physical Traits: Jacob Turner is 18 years old and is 6’1″ with a lean, athletic build. He has short brown hair, light brown skin, and dark green eyes. He’s a talented basketball player and has been playing on his school’s varsity team since freshman year.
Personality Traits: Jacob is confident, competitive, brave, loyal, and kind. Although he minds his business most of the time, he
is not afraid to speak his mind, even if it gets him into trouble. He’s fiercely loyal to his friends and family and has a strong sense of justice. Jacob is also a bit of a rebel and likes to push boundaries, both in his personal life and on the basketball court.
Flaws: Jacob’s biggest flaw is his sensitivity and hot-headedness. He’s quick to overreact, which often leads her to make poor
decisions. He has a tendency to act before he thinks, which can get him into trouble. Jacob’s temper can also make it difficult
for him to form and maintain relationships with people, as he tends to push people away when they disagree with him.
His backstory: Jacob grew up in a small town in Texas, where basketball and boxing were a way of life. His father was a coach, and his older brother was a star player on the high school team. Jacob was determined to follow in his brother’s footsteps and
started playing basketball when he was just 8 years old. Although he does and loves boxing, he quickly developed a love for the game and spent countless hours practicing on the court. When Jacob was 13, his parents divorced, and his mother moved away to start a new family. Jacob felt betrayed by his mother’s abandonment and turned to basketball as a way to cope with
everything. He threw himself into the game, spending every moment he could on the field, and pushing himself to be the best.
Jacob’s competitive spirit and talent on the court helped her earn a spot on her school’s varsity team as a freshman. He quickly became one of the team’s star players and earned a reputation as a fierce and strong competitor. However, Jacob’s hot-headedness often got the best of him, and he found himself in trouble with his coach and teammates on many occasions. He has a
girlfriend (Vivian) he has been dating since the end of sophomore year and they both love each other very much even with his
flaws.
Antagonist: Damien “The Flayer” Mares
Physical Traits: Damien Mares is 19 years old and is 6’4” with an average but somewhat lean build. He has medium-length dark brown hair, very light skin, and dark brown eyes that most of the time look like they could almost be black. He is pretty strong
for his body and has longer arms than most males his age, height, and weight. He has many scars and bruises that come and go around his body which is why he mostly likes to wear black clothing as he feels more protected.
Personality Traits: Damien is awkward, and sometimes very quiet, but can be charismatic or so it seems to others. He has
trouble making friends and has mostly been alone in high school as he was seen as the “weird” kid. Deep down, he is
manipulative and deceitful along with being sadistic as he enjoys causing fear in others. He lacks empathy and doesn’t see his
victims as people. Overall, he is obsessed with the idea of chaos and destruction.
Backstory: Damien was born and raised in a dysfunctional home, as he experienced abuse and neglect from his parents. He
found solace in watching horror movies and became fascinated with the idea of scaring others. In high school, he struggled to
fit in and was often bullied by his peers. He began to feel a sense of power when he wore a clown mask and made his first kill.
He started by killing dogs and cats, as he would cut them open, skin them, and let them suffer. He leaves his victims marked
with slices marking the letter “F.” The rush of adrenaline and fear he caused in his victims fueled his desire to continue killing.
Damien became more and more obsessed with the idea of chaos and destruction, and he decided to start targeting people at
his high school. To him, people he considers his enemy. He enjoys playing cat and mouse with his victims and taunting them
with his sickles and knives. In his mind, his ultimate goal is to create a world of fear and destruction where he is in control. In
this case, him being in control of a small city and town. He calls himself “The Flayer” and makes sure the town knows his name
in the not-so-distant future.
Supporting Character: Lucy Alvarez
Physical Traits: Lucy Alvarez is 18 years old and is 5’6” with a petite but lean athletic build. She has long straight blonde hair,
light skin, and light almost hazel-like eyes. She’s a talented and very flexible student in gymnastics and has been on her school’s cheerleading team since her sophomore year.
Personality Traits: Lucy is caring and compassionate, with a big heart, and can be shy at first, but once she gets to know someone, she’s fiercely loyal. She’s very intelligent and hardworking, as she has one of the best GPAs, with a strong sense of
responsibility. She has a great sense of humor and loves making people laugh especially her boyfriend who she loves very
much. Just like her boyfriend, she will talk back when she needs to although most of the time she is very respectful.
Backstory: Lucy grew up in a working-class family and was raised by her mother after her father passed away when she was
young. Her mother worked long hours as a nurse to provide for lucy and her younger brother Justin, so she became very
self-sufficient from a young age. She excelled in school and became involved in gymnastics and cheerleading after a field trip in middle school. She met Jacob in their freshman year of high school and they quickly became close friends. They started dating in their sophomore year and she fell in love with his sense of humor and his unwavering support of her cheerleading work.
Despite her busy schedule with school, activities, and work, she always makes time for Jacob, who has been a constant source of support and encouragement.

Creative Piece & Critique
Watch and read: Performativity is the concept that language can function as a form of social action and have the effect of change. As Butler explains, “Within speech act theory, a performative is that discursive practice that enacts or produces that which it names.” Understand that like most good theories, it has value for other variables besides gender, including race, other aspects of culture (besides gender), religion, etc.
