Based on the research question assignment in Week 2, write a research paper on your approved topic. The paper should be between 10-12 pages, not including the cover page, reference list, and any appendices.
Technical Requirements
Your paper must be at a minimum of 10-12 pages (the Title and Reference pages do not count towards the minimum limit).
Scholarly and credible references should be used. A good rule of thumb is at least 2 scholarly sources per page of content.
Type in Times New Roman, 12 point and double space.
Students will follow the current Turabian Style as the sole citation and reference style used in written work submitted as part of coursework.
Points will be deducted for the use of Wikipedia or encyclopedic type sources. It is highly advised to utilize books, peer-reviewed journals, articles, archived documents, etc.
All submissions will be graded using the assignment rubric.

Advocacy Campaign Presentation
The purpose of this assignment is to introduce the process of advocacy by creating a campaign to support a piece of legislation becoming law. This is your strategy for implementing the policy change you proposed or supported in your Policy Brief. You will have five minutes to give a presentation that outlines the steps you would take to create a task-oriented campaign to see the policy passed in the next 1-2 years. You will incorporate information you learned about the legislative process, persuasive messaging, and writing to create a detailed outline of steps in your advocacy campaign. You are speaking as an advocate to a group of social workers.
You will submit two items for this assignment.
First, you will submit 1 full-page single-spaced document (2 pages absolute maximum) that includes:
A goal date for an identified action by policymakers and three associated objectives with the advocacy campaign
Identify targeted policymakers to support the policy for passage
Target list of potential allies (i.e. social service organizations, advocacy organizations, elected officials, associations, union, etc.)
Identify opponents and others who may resist supporting the policy
Key action proposed for the coalition (i.e. meetings, commercial air dates, fundraising goals, etc.)
Timeline for policy influence through the coalition
Any fundraising needs
2-3 major talking points for allies to use in conversation with targeted elected officials
writing assignment
There are two writing assignments worth 100 points each. The purpose of the essays is to provide students an opportunity to discuss a key concept or topic in Texas politics and to show a basic understanding of academic research and reporting skills. Students should offer evidence for their arguments. Thus, submissions that are more comprehensive and detailed will earn a higher point total. Each assignment should be a minimum of 750 words. Submissions should include a works cited page (note: there must be a parenthetical citation at the end of each sentence that contains information from a source). The textbook should be one of the sources and included on the works cited page (sources other than the textbook may be used as well).
You should use New Courier or Times New Roman, 12 point font, double-spacing, and one inch margins on all four sides of the paper. The assignment is to be formatted according to the Modern Language Association (MLA) style which includes a works cited page but does NOT include a title page. Students should research this style in order to properly format the assignment (see the Purdue Online Writing Lab).
All writing assignments will be analyzed using SafeAssign. Essays that contain plagiarized material will receive a significant reduction in points or a zero. Students may receive a failing grade in the course for submitting plagiarized material. Do not cut and paste information from an online source or copy information directly from the chapter without using quotations and citing the information.
TOPIC
Discuss how the population has changed in Texas and how it is projected to change in the future. (Hint: Look at the charts and graphs in Chapter 1.) In what ways might Texas’ politics change in the future based on its racial and ethnic makeup? Based on the population growth, urbanization and economic transformation of the last two decades, how might Texas change in the next two decades? Which areas will grow in population, and what might Texas’ government have to do to respond to that growth? (Be specific)
Internal Environmental Analysis
TASK: Perform an internal environmental analysis using the tools and concepts learned in the course to date. You will also draw from previous business courses to develop an understanding of how organizations develop and manage strategies to establish, safeguard and sustain their positions in a competitive market.
You also have the opportunity to review an organization’s objectives and goals and the key functional areas within the organization. Performing an internal environment analysis helps assess a firm’s internal resources and capabilities and plays a critical role in formulating strategy by identifying a firm’s strengths to capitalize on so that it can effectively overcome weaknesses.
How to setup:
I. Introduction – provides the reader with a quick overview of the focal company and an overview of the main points. It is a good idea to write this section LAST to ensure all main points are covered.
II. Strategic Role of Corporate Strengths/Weaknesses in the Internal Strategy Analysis
There are three levels of strategy: corporate level strategy, business level strategy and functional level strategy. Corporate level strategies are related to businesses or markets the focal company successfully can compete within. Corporate level strategies affect the entire organization and are formulated by top management using input from middle and lower management. Decision making about corporate level strategies are considered complex, affect the entire company and relate to an organization’s resource capabilities. Corporate level strategies align with an organization’s mission statement and ideally are designed around goals and objectives.
1. Corporate Level Strategies – Perform an analysis on the focal company’s corporate-level strategies, using outside research to identify the strategies and using course materials for support of your analysis.
2. Partial SWOT – Create a partial SWOT table (SW portion) and cite sources from the outside research to support your table. This sections is a Matrix or Table only, and not an analysis.
3. SW Analysis – Perform a SW analysis of your SW Matrix/Table and discuss the strategic inferences/implications. Discuss what strategies would allow the company to capitalize on its major strengths and what strategies would allow the company to improve upon its major weaknesses. Use course materials for support.
4. IFE Matrix Analysis – Create an IFE matrix analysis. Make sure to explain how the matrix was developed and discuss the strategic inferences/implications, using course materials for support.
5. Grand Strategy Matrix – Develop a Grand Strategy Matrix. (See Dr. Kathy’s Notes for Week Five for guidance on this matrix. IMPORTANT: as indicated in Dr. Kathy’s Notes for Week Five, use the 2019 and 2018 industry growth rates. 2020 growth rates may be an anomaly and may give you unrealistic measurements.) Make sure to explain how the matrix was developed and discuss the strategic inferences/implications at a corporate level and business-unit-level using course materials to support your explanation.
III. Strategic Role of Internal Resources/Departments/Processes
1. Business Level Strategies – In this section, you will perform an analysis on the focal company’s business-level strategies. Robust support from course materials is also expected for this section.
a. Product Line and Target Market – Evaluate the company’s product line and target market.
b. Business-Level Strategies – Identify and explain business-level strategies.
2. Functional Level Strategies – In this section, you will perform an analysis on the focal company’s functional-level strategies. You will obtain most of this information from the company’s website, Annual Report or 10K Report. Robust support from course materials is also expected for this section.
a. Org. Structure, Culture, Etc. – Assess the organizational structure, the organizational culture, marketing production, operations, finance and accounting, and R&D. This can be accomplished by viewing the company’s website, interviews, and surveys.
b. Alignment – Explain how these strategies align with the company’s vision and mission statements.
IV. Strategic Financial Analysis for the Last Reported Fiscal Year
1. Financial Ratios for Company – Use the company’s income statement and balance sheet to calculate no less than a total of ten (10) key financial ratios to the business that are relevant to the focal company. There must be a mix of four different key categories inclusive of the leverage, liquidity, profitability, and efficiency ratios so that the ratios do not all come from the same category. The specific ratios selection must come from the following categories.
a. Leverage Ratios (Long term debt ratio, Total debt ratio, Debt-to-equity ratio, Times interest earned ratio, and Cash coverage ratio).
b. Liquidity Ratios (Net working capital to total assets ratio, current ratio, quick ratio, and cash ratio)
c. Efficiency Ratios (Asset turnover ratio, Average collection period, Inventory turnover ratio, and Days sales outstanding)
d. Profitability Ratios (Net profit margin, Return on assets, and Return on equity)
(The selection of the ratios has to be relevant to the focal company so it is important to choose wisely.)
2. Average Financial Ratios for Industry – Quote industry financial average ratios that correlate to the 10 financial ratios selected for the focal company.
3. Financial Analysis – Discuss the corporate financial standing based on a financial ratio analysis. Include whether the company’s financial ratio is a strength, a weakness or a neutral factor.
Note: Consider using the library to find the industry averages. A UMGC librarian can assist if you have difficulty finding. If copied directly from the Internet, a zero will be assigned. When placing any table or figure in a table, it must be explained in detail.
V. Composite Analysis
A composite analysis is a summary analysis that you will create. The composite analysis should use the most relevant factors from all of the various analyses in Projects 1, 2, and 3 (Financial Ratios, EFE Matrix, IFE matrix, CPM matrix, SWOT, and Grand Strategy Matrix). This summary will include a QUANTITATIVE summary (most important points from the Financial Ratios), and a QUALITATIVE summary (most important points from the Matrices).
1. Quantitative Composite Analysis – Develop a composite analysis on internal factor strategy analysis based on the most relevant quantitative analytical outcomes from financial ratios. Quantitative outcomes will largely stem from the Financial Analyses in Section IV.3 above. Robust support from course materials is expected for this section. The key to this composite analysis is identifying the most relevant factors. The Quantitative outcomes should not simply be a repeat of the Financial Analysis in section IV, for example. This section should contain a few key points stemming from the ratios that you want the leaders of this company to pay attention to.
2. Qualitative Composite Analysis – Develop a composite analysis on internal factor strategy analysis based on the most relevant qualitative analytical outcomes from those steps above and from the following (may be from previous projects): EFE Matrix, IFE matrix, CPM matrix, SWOT, and Grand Strategy Matrix. Qualitative outcomes will come from your matrices. Robust support from course materials is expected for this section. The key to this composite analysis is identifying the most relevant factors identified in your various matrix analyses so far. This section should contain a few key points that you want the leaders of this company to pay attention to.
VI. Conclusion – Create a concluding paragraph. This is, in essence, an Executive Summary. The Conclusion is intended to emphasize the purpose/significance of the analysis, emphasize the significance/consequence of findings, and indicate the wider applications that are derived from the main points of the project’s requirements. You will draw conclusions about the findings of the internal analysis.
References – The reference page is on a separate page from the report. The reference page is completed according to APA with each reference left-justified with hanging indentation for subsequent lines. References are completed in alphabetical order. Please see the module, “Learn to Use APA” to ensure references are in APA format.
Imagine that you are writing a book and have decided to choose works of art yourself for the front and back covers.
Imagine that you are writing a book and have decided to choose works of art yourself for the front and back covers. Based on things you have been most drawn to during the term, write a short description of what your book is about (a paragraph is fine). What is the title of your book? This is important. I believe that Dan Brown might have remained somewhat obscure if he hadn’t titled his 4th book ‘The Da Vinci Code’. I’ve read his earlier books and they were good, but their titles were not attention grabbers as was this one. If you are stuck on a ‘catchy’ title, post your paragraph and ask us for help!
Your images should express aspects of what your book is about. Please tell us why you chose the images you picked. Be sure to include images of your selected artworks.Have fun with this final forum assignment. If you ever really do write your book, let me know, I want to read it!
This course is ARTU 464 it has been all about women artist from the renaissance up to now.
Unit 2 Integration Reading “QQR”
Each Unit will include a written assessment. For Units 1-4, the written assessment is called the Integration Reading QQR. Complete a paper using the QQR (question, quotation, and reflection) approach on the related reading found for this assignment. The related reading is attached to this assignment. It is by Jeeves & Ludwig, not from your textbook.
The typed, 3-page QQR includes the following components: Question, Quotation, and Reflection.
Question:
Three Questions prompted by the assigned reading: A good question is both a question that your fellow students could answer and a question that requires analysis, synthesis, interpretation, and critical thinking in order to answer it. You don’t necessarily have to have an answer to your question, indeed the most interesting questions often don’t have a definitive answer. Here are some types of questions that would meet this requirement:
Analysis: Questions beginning with “Why…” “How would you explain…” “What is the importance of…” “What is the meaning of”
Compare and contrast: “Compare…” “Contrast…” “What is the difference between…” “What is the similarity between…”
Cause and effect: “What are the causes/results of…” “What connection is there between…”
Clarification: “What is meant by…” “Explain how…”
Quotation
Three Quotations from the reading, selected as particularly compelling or controversial (each student must cite the page number in the reading that each quote is taken from)
Reflection
A reaction paper prompted by the reading. What questions, comments, controversies, etc. came to mind while reading the material? How do you integrate your faith and the content of each reading?
Case 8-2 “IKEA’s Global Sourcing Challenge: Indian Rugs and Child Labor”.
Using concepts, theories, and terms from the corresponding Chapter discuss the following, in a more expanded depth than the previous 7 weeks:
1. The company background, the current situation and any competitive issues;
2. The potential choices and opportunities going forward.
3. Question: As a Christian business person, what role does Social Responsibility play in Globalization?
Your paper should include an executive summary, 2400-2800 words (9-10 pages), a recommended course of action, and a bibliography of cited sources. All key points should be supported with scholary references to support the position taken. The paper should adhere to strict APA standards.
1. Executive Summary: each student will summarize the salient points of the assigned FINAL Case Study as they pertain to topics and theories from all the chapters, as applicable. While the FINAL Case Study will again present much varied information, the student is tasked with identifying a comprehensive array of the entire course’s topics. Additionally, each student is expected to provide, and use information found therein, two outside articles as they relate to the FINAL Case Study (proper bibliographic citation is required).
2. Application and Remedies: each student will analyze the FINAL Case Study with the goal of providing an application of that week’s topics and recommending a remedy to several issues (2-3) the student identifies within the FINAL Case Study. There will be several issues that could be addressed, but this assessment is limiting each student to selecting only 2-3 issues to apply to all the course’s topics.
3. Questions and Responses: each student will address the posted questions pertaining to the assigned Case Study. The student is expected to thoroughly and competently answer the questions showing sufficient knowledge of the FINAL Case Study and any of the course’s topics that apply to each question. All key points should be supported with scholarly references to support the position taken.
MANAGEMENT OF INNOVATION/TECHNOLOGY
