Leaders command significant power to enable team performance. Using one or more of the teams that you identified in week 1, write a reflection concerning the powers of effective leaders of teams. With approval of the instructor early in the week, you may select a different team that provided you with more extensive, actual, team experience. While writing your reflection, answer the following questions:
Who gets to define the leaders in the group?
How do you explain the usage of power in terms of task completion and resource allocation?
How do people in an authoritative position use their power? Is it ethical? What is the impact of authoritative power on team members?
How does the team define power, and what is easily accepted by the team?
What influential powers do you possess within your team?
To what extent do you exert your power? You may possess different types of power in different situations. While having the power, you always have a choice of when to use it. Define your thought process in using power to obtain a desired outcome.

First step is to write about Hunger Games in a mythological sense (heros journey and metaphorical). Idenitfy the heroes in the film and what is the archetype based on Cowden archetype standards. If there is any reference to classic myths or legends discuss them. Example hunger games is drawn from the myth of Theseus and the minotaur as per the writer. Explore how the ancient myth has changed to be relevant to modern times. Include Quotes from the writers, actors and directors. Cite sources.
Second step is to Choose a second movie (or series) that explores the epic heroic journey. Be sure that there is
enough relevant mythology in the film to explore. Identify the original myth/legend/characters being employed. Explore the impact that mythology, including heroic archetypes, have on the film.
This second option is entirely up to you, but you are welcome to choose from the following:
• Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?; Cold Mountain; Harry Potter (any!); The Purge; A
Wrinkle In Time; Percy Jackson; Moana Identify the director and some techniques that are used to bring this myth (or mythical
influence) to life on the screen and compare the film to The Hunger Games, as well as to the
original myth or legend on which it is based.
Third step is … In an additional paragraph or two or as part of your conclusion –whichever option feels
more effective to you—include your own definition of a hero and identify modern instances,
from current events, social media, or recent shows or sporting events where the concept of
“hero” has been used or misused, especially in relation to the classic definition of the term.
Your essay should include:
v Proper spelling and formatting (including double-spacing);
v A unique title and strong thesis statement that references both films being explored;
v A compelling closing paragraph that considers the implications of mythical influence
on media and film;
v Parenthetical MLA citations and a Works Cited Page.
