Introduction and Alignment
With an understanding of metacognition, strategies for studying, reading, and note-taking can be really useful. No two people are alike, and now is the perfect time to try some new techniques and experiment until you find what fits you best. The goal for this assignment is to create a toolbox that you can return to throughout your academic journey – what works for one project may not work on the next, so it’s important to have multiple ways to solve a problem.
Upon completion of this assignment, you should be able to:
Apply various reading, note-taking, and study strategies.

Assignment Begin by watching the linked videos which define and demonstrate particular strategies for taking notes, reading comprehension, and studying. Apply strategies to the next video, or practice on other videos or other reading content for this course.
Once you have practiced the Cornell method, mind mapping, SQ3R, and the Feynman technique, reflect upon which were most beneficial. Are there small adjustments you could make to help any of the strategies work for you? There is no rule you must use any technique exactly the way others use it! How can these strategies work for you?

Google Slides is a live document and presentation tool, much like PowerPoint, except that updates can be made instantaneously by multiple parties at the same time. For this assignment, you will create a Google Slides presentation that will become a “toolbox” of strategies that will help you in this class, and in future classes as well. Use the 6×6 ruleLinks to an external site. (no more than 6 lines per slide, with 6 words on each line) for your slides (you can always put more information in the Notes section, just like you would do if you were presenting), and feel free to include images that are relevant to the information presented but this is not required.
Slide 1 – Title slide with your name and educational goal. For example, which degree will you complete?
Slide 2 – Study Strategies – what do you want to remember, which strategies were most effective, how do you intend to study in this and upcoming classes?
Slide 3 – Note-Taking Strategies – what do you want to remember, which strategies were most effective, how do you intend to study in this and upcoming classes?
Slide 4 – Reading Strategies – what do you want to remember, which strategies were most effective, how do you intend to study in this and upcoming classes?
Slide 5 – Conclude by constructing a 2-3 sentence reflection about the experience of trying new techniques and what you learned about yourself in the process.
Make sure your Google slides are shareable and copy/paste the shareable link into the Website URL box for this assignment. How to Share a Google Doc or Slides.Links to an external site.
