Identify whether this data was better than expected or worse, and give your opinion on if things are getting better or worse.
Find an article that talks about the recent ‘jobs report’. As always there is good and bad news to be found in it. Please find an article that summarizes some of the highlights of the report, and offers opinions on how good or bad it was.
I’d like you to identify some of the main points being given, group that info into ‘good news’ and ‘bad news’. Identify whether this data was better than expected or worse, and give your opinion on if things are getting better or worse. Lastly indicate whether the unemployment data is moving in a manner you would expect based on all the initiatives you identified from your fiscal and monetary policy articles. Lastly give your prediction on what the next few months will look like, support your opinion with information gather from your readings as well as information learned in class.
As the nurse, what priority data would you collect from this couple to help define relevant interventions to meet their needs?
Read the following case study and answer the reflective questions. Please provide rationales for your answers. Make sure to provide citations/references for your answers in APA format.
CASE STUDY: Active Labor: Susan Wong
Mrs. Wong, a first-time mother, is admitted to the birthing suite in early labor after spontaneous rupture of membranes at home. She is at 38 weeks of gestation with a history of abnormal alpha-fetoprotein levels at 16 weeks of pregnancy.
She was scheduled for ultrasonography to visualize the fetus to rule out an open spinal defect or Down syndrome, but never followed through. Mrs. Wong and her husband disagreed about what to do (keep or terminate the pregnancy) if the ultrasonography indicated a spinal problem, so they felt they did not want this information.
Reflective Questions
1. As the nurse, what priority data would you collect from this couple to help define relevant interventions to meet their needs?
2.How can you help this couple if they experience a negative outcome in the birthing suite? What are your personal views on terminating or continuing a pregnancy with a risk of a potential anomaly? What factors may influence your views?
With the influence of the recent Human Genome Project and the possibility of predicting open spinal defects earlier in pregnancy, how will maternity care change in the future?

Helping fathers reconnect with their families by assisting them with constantly earning income to pay for child support, bills, and assist the mom with the child. Provide counseling but not licensed, so counseling is limited. Motivate the men to become self sufficient and productive. Follow through with their male to make sure they properly complete the program. Helps males deal with different aspects of life, including break ups and new relationships mom may get into. Helps fathers understand what a healthy relationship looks like with all members of society, not just their family. Help males with employment boot camp. 20hr rigorous program to make sure they have the skills to be productive members of society and to be able to provide for themselves as well as their children.
Their educational background.
Masters in Human Services and Education, currently pursuing a PHD in Human Services (counseling degree will come with it once finished)
What surprised you about their role.
Several things surprised me about Sandras role. One was that she assist in helping fathers obtain their education through career training. The other was that she also assist fathers in dealing with different life circumstances, including acceptance and anger management.
Two questions of your own pertaining to their position.
What has been the most difficult/challenging thing to deal with in your position?
Teach the males to turn their anger into something valuable. Turn your mess into a message-Sandra Freison
The most rewarding?
o When a father completes the program successfully and find the courage to continue the training through outside sources the organization connected them with, including graduation from career training/education. Also, when a father brings someone else to join the program because they believe in it so much.
Organizational Overview
Under this heading include:
The name of the organization.
A Fathers Place
Why you selected this organization.
I selected the organization because it is different then the others and I honestly didnt know much about it.
The organizations mission/goal in the community.
We envision every child having a responsible Father (their vision)
Engage and empower fathers in the positive support of their children through goal-oriented programs that enable them to find stable employment, practice healthy parenting, and gain hope for the future of their family
Who they serve and how.
They serve fathers in the local community & also females (mostly court ordered to attend a specific program) by offering education services through career training and workshops.
A brief history.
In 1999 a group of concerned citizens from the community convened to address one of the most pressing issues of our time: father absence. After assessing the needs of low-income fathers and developing a holistic plan to address them, the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Community favorably approved the groups request for funding and A Fathers Place was begun in 2000 under the umbrella of the community coalition. By 2003 the project grew and was able to establish a standalone 501c3.
What surprised you about this organization.
I was surprised to learn that this organization doesnt only help fathers. It helps men in general, but also assists woman. Although sometimes females involvement in this organization is court ordered, it is still interesting considering the name of the organization, however it is still nice to know that they help everyone during all walks of life.
Personal Observation
Under this heading include:
Did you observe any barriers that may impact client services?
I did not observe any barriers that may impact client services.
Is confidentiality maintained?
Confidentiality is maintained and all are required to sign a confidentiality agreement upon being accepted into the program. The employees are also sworn to secrecy and are also required to sign a confidentiality agreement upon employment that is renewed annually.
Would you like to work there? Why or Why not?
I do not see myself working at this type of location. Although I appreciate and respect their mission and also think it is necessary to have in the community, I do not like the atmosphere.
What did you learn?
