Instructions
Complete
a researched critical essay of a minimum of 1,200 words on one of the
two essay topics below. You are writing one essay of at least 1,200
words that addresses either
Essay Topic 1 or
Essay Topic IInot
both.
The
critical essay must follow classic essay structure: the introduction
with thesis, the body, and the conclusion. The body of the essay
must support the thesis by using information and examples from the
assigned readings and must include additional, documented information
from six primary and secondary credible sources. Your textbook may
count as only one source, regardless of the number of literary works
that you cite from it. You are required to obtain at least four
sources from the librarys databases, such as the Literature
Resource Center and the History Study Center. Wikipedia, Shmoop
University, and Spark Notes are not
credible sources for academic writing.
All
paraphrases and quotations from your sources, including your
textbook, must be documented in strict accordance with MLA standards.
The documentation must include attributive phrases and/or in-text
citations and a works-cited page. You may refer to the Online
Writing Lab (OWL) at Purdue University for updated MLA information
and examples.
To
eliminate plagiarism, you are required to submit at least one draft
of your essay to obtain the Safe Assign Originality Report. The link
for submission of the draft is in the Week 7 folder. You may submit
the draft multiple times without having the link re-set. The draft
is excluded from the Safe Assign database. In the Originality
Report, do not be concerned if sources are highlighted. This
highlighting merely indicates that other students have located the
same credible sources as you have located. Also, do not be concerned
if quoted material is highlighted. You must be certain, however,
that you have enclosed quoted material in quotation marks and have
provided corresponding attributive phrases and/or in-text citations.
Paraphrase again any highlighted material that is not a source and is
not a quotation. This highlighting indicates that the percentage of
similarity is too high, and you must eliminate the similarity by
paraphrasing again. Continue to re-submit your drafts until you have
eliminated the similarity.

Recall your Module 5 Db assignment concerning doxogenic and falsifying lies – this builds on that discussion.
In the Module 5 Db, you had to make your case with evidence you believed was credible. Now in this Db, you are to define; explain; and apply the concept of credibility to the informational channels that discuss UFOs.

FOR YOUR ORIGINAL POST: In 300-350 words, define and explain the concept of credibility as it relates to what is understood about UFOs. Be specific and clear in what the term “credibility” means and how it is understood in the literature (the 2 peer-reviewed sources) that you have chosen. In essence, you are giving a very brief literature review of credibility and how it has been scholastically applied. Then synthesize and evaluate informational channels and outlets on UFOs in terms of their credibility. What makes them believable or not? In essence, you are to apply what you have learned this semester to elucidate what makes a source “credible.”
Of course, lateral reading helps in checking facts, but how can that skill be applied here? What are the pitfalls and opportunities of studying UFOs given the information environment in which UFOs are currently understood? Given what you have learned about the concept of credibility; and given what you know about the government policy of disinformation and psyops; what can we know about the subject of UFOs, and how will you negotiate the disclosure landscape in the near future? In taking this course, are you more, the same, or less apt to find what government officials say about anything as credible? Why or why not? Indeed, recall that you had chosen sources in your Module 5 Db that you had believed to be credible. Whether or not you chose government documents as a credible source in M5 Db, has your opinion changed since then? Why or why not? You might think more deeply about what promoted your belief in those sources’ credibility and apply it here. These are just some of the issues you can discuss after clearly defining credibility and how it was applied in the literature you chose.
Videos including documentaries; Discovery +; or others elsewhere do not count as peer-reviewed sources and thus cannot be used for that purpose of this Db. However, they can be used to demonstrate and discuss UFO information channels or media.

The summary will include a summary of the results, are they different than expected, and the recommendation to the college representatives. Provide recommendations using the details in the body to support them. Use confident language and sell the students requests for the new Student Center.

Appendix:
Provide an appendix that will include ALL calculations showing each calculation step and equation used. Statistics must be applied to all survey questions, even if not used in the body of the report, each survey question must have a graph representing the findings.

What causes circulatory shock? Provide an example. What happens to the body during shock? How does the body return to homeostasis?
Professor and class,
Our text book, defines circulatory shock as any state in which cardiac output is insufficient to meet the bodys metabolic needs. There are two categories of circulatory shock, cardiogenic shock, and low venous return (LVR) shock. Cardiogenic shock means the heart does not pump sufficiently, mostly due to a myocardial infarction. Low venous return shock is caused by not enough blood returning to the heart, also known as low cardiac output.
Low venous return shock has three principal forms, hypovolemic shock, obstructed venous return shock and venous pooling shock. Hypovolemic shock commonly caused by hemorrhage or loss of blood volume due to dehydration, burns, bleeding ulcers and trauma. Death from heat exposure usually caused by dehydration. The body excretes as little as one point five liters (1.5L) of sweat per hour. Tissue fluid is lost, and water is replaced by the water in the blood stream. When this happens, blood volume decreases and can drop below an adequate amount for circulation.
Obstructed venous return shock happens when a vein is compressed and restricts blood flow usually caused by a growing tumor or aneurysm. Venous pooling shock happens when blood accumulates in the lower body, a result of standing or sitting for long periods of time or widespread vasodilation. Vessels dilate from sudden onset of loss of vasomotor tone, this is called neurogenic shock. Vasodilation and accelerated capillary permeability triggered by bacterial toxins cause septic shock. Anaphylactic shock causes the release of histamine, generalized vasodilation, and accelerated capillary permeability, a severe immune response to an antigen.
During circulatory shock, the body compensates and restricts blood flow to the extremities, decreased blood flow to the brain may cause loss of consciousness or confusion, blood pressure decreases, the pulse slows down, diaphoretic skin, and hyperventilation.
Homeostasis is restored by restoring blood flow and protecting the organs with treatments that may include prescription medication, cardiac procedures, or medical devices. Medications used to treat shock included anti-arrhythmias, antiplatelets or blood thinners and vasopressors and inotropes. Cardiac procedures include percutaneous cardiac intervention also known as cardiac stent and coronary artery bypass grafting. Sometimes a medical device is needed to restore and or maintain blood flow. These devices include extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, this circulates and oxygenates blood, an intra-aortic balloon pump that is placed in the aorta and the percutaneous circulatory assist devices, this includes the ventricular assist device.
