Discussion: National Response Framework and Emergency Planning

With the increased disasters and mass casualties in recent years,
there is an increased need for emergency management and response. However, it
is necessary to plan and prepare for emergencies long before they occur.
Emergency preparedness should be a multi-agency effort that incorporates the
whole community.
After the 11 September 2001, tragedy in New York City, the
Hurricane Katrina disaster in New Orleans on 29 August 2005, and the
bioterrorism scares in recent years, hospitals have been forced to reevaluate
the effectiveness of their current disaster preparedness plans. They must
assess whether the current plans will work in the event of an emergency, and
the administration must decide what changes must be made to make the plans more
successful.
For example, the Opioid Crisis requires collaboration and
coordination between law enforcement, fire rescue, EMS, hospitals, and drug
rehab facilities. Dr. Jessica Sapp contributed an article, “Working
Together: How Law Enforcement and EMS Are Responding to the Opioid Crisis”
to the APUS magazine, A Public Health Perspective on the Opioid
Crisis. This article demonstrates the importance of working
together. You can read the full magazine and article (pgs. 42-43) at http://online.fliphtml5.com/aaesa/wobq/.

Discuss the following:
1. Discuss the benefits of a disaster preparedness plan in a hospital
or public health organization.
2. What are the benefits of emergency planning?
3. Given the recent changes in the need for better disaster
preparedness, should these alterations in disaster preparedness be left up
to the hospital, or should the government take a more central role in all
disaster preparedness?

Summarize the article, include what population does it impact and the stakeholders (any person, group or organization) that are involved in the issue, discuss the health issue, any relevant background or history related to the health issue, discuss the policies (laws, regulations, programs), etc. that either seek to cure the issue or work against the resolution of the issue.

Please review a scholarly article in top tier current news forums (no older than two weeks past from this assignment due date). Opposing points of views discussed in the article should be discussed. Next provide your own scholarly input on the article, its relevancy and the policies effectiveness as well as propose a better policy and/or outline steps to improve outcomes on the health issue.

As you conclude this three-part assignment that began in Unit VI, you will be applying many of the course concepts that have been discussed in this unit and in previous units by conducting a well-researched analysis.

As you conclude this three-part assignment that began in Unit VI, you will be applying many of the course concepts that have been discussed in this unit and in previous units by conducting a well-researched analysis.
For the final portion of the assignment, refer to the comments left by the instructor on the second portion of the project (Unit VII) surrounding your selected organization or department.
Now that the organization or department has been identified and the action plan has been developed, it is time to manage the stresses associated with the changes that are sure to invoke a range of emotions for the organizations workers and stakeholders.
To accomplish this, you will need to complete the components below.
Compare and contrast possible feelings and ensuing behaviors and actions that may result from the plans implementation.
Recommend strategies that you would utilize in order to successfully acknowledge, address, and manage these behaviors. (Note: Your strategies should address at least two entitiesthe organization or department as a whole and public stakeholders).
Relate qualities and considerations that are unique to public administrators and best practices in collaboration.
Your final segment must be at least three pages in length and utilize the remaining four of the sources found in your initial Unit VI Scholarly Activity or selected replacements. If sources were previously used, they may be used again in addition to four new sources.
Since this is the final portion of the assignment, you will need submit one finalized version of your action plan consisting of the work you completed for Units VII and VIII. Altogether, your paper must total at least six pages in length.
Be sure to properly format your title page and reference page in APA style, and keep in mind that the aforementioned do not count toward meeting the six-page minimum requirement.

Regression and Correlation

Regression and Correlation
Multiple regression analysis is widely used in business research in order to forecast and predict purposes. It is also used to determine what independent variables have an influence on dependent variables, such as sales.
Sales can be attributed to quality, customer service, and location. In multiple regression analysis, we can determine which independent variable contributes the most to sales; it could be quality or customer service or location.
Now, consider the following scenario. You have been assigned the task of creating a multiple regression equation of at least three variables that explains Microsoft’s annual sales.
Use a time series of data of at least 10 years. You can search for this data using the Internet.
Before running the regression analysis, predict what sign each variable will be and explain why you made that prediction.
Run three simple linear regressions by considering one independent variable at a time
After running each of the three linear regressions, interpret the regression.
Does the regression fit the data well?
Run a multiple regression using all three independent variables.
Interpret the multiple regression. Does the regression fit the data well?
Does each predictor play a significant role in explaining the significance of the regression?
Are some predictors not useful?
If so, did you consider removing those and rerunning the regression?
Are the predictors related too significantly to one another? What is the coefficient of correlation “r”? Do you think this “r” value suggests a strong correlation among the predictors (the independent variables?

Generation X Case Study

Generation X Values Have Implications for Career Management:
Some experts argue that the same career management approaches that work with baby boomers do not work with Generation Xers. Gen Xers do not have the same values as baby boomers. Teen experiences as latchkey kids and watching as their parents are laid off from corporations helped to shape Gen Xers belief that one of their most important priorities is to take care of themselves under any circumstances. Many Gen Xers feel that the traditional corporate career path is too narrow, emphasizing an, up or out mentality. Gen Xers view the availability of multiple career paths as creating options and providing them with an opportunity to gain a broad set of business skills. Companies that are known as good places to make personal contacts are valued by Gen Xers. Gen Xers also value their children and their family relationships. This means that they have strict standards about how many hours they will work or the amount of business travel they will accept. Because of the incompatibility between their values and those of large companies, many Gen Xers have left Corporate America for smaller companies or to start their own businesses.
Consider the question: A career is . . .?
How would Gen Xers define a career?
How would Baby Boomers define a career?
What are the similarities and differences between Gen Xers and Baby Boomers?
In an approximately 750-word essay, address the following:
Do you think that differences in how a career is defined between generations (e. g., Baby Boomers vs. Gen Xers) are greater than differences that might exist within any one generation? Explain your answer.
Describe how companies can use their career management systems to attract, retain, and motivate talented Gen X employees.
Consider each step in the career management process and provide recommendations for what managers and the company should do to appeal to Gen Xers values.

Fertility Decline in Developing Regions

we focus on regions that are typically in stage 3 of the demographic transition model. In this stage, the birth rate drops DRAMATICALLY! A variety of factors lead to this decline: the country is industrializing/urbanizing (large families aren’t as necessary), and women’s roles are changing. As countries develop, educational levels improve; as women become more educated, they become more active in the work force–in a variety of occupations–and they are less inclined to have as many kids (or any kids at all).
For this discussion, you will be looking at two different pieces that look at fertility issues in two different regions/countries studied in unit 3. The first is a video clip where an author and photographer for National Geographic discuss patterns related to women’s issues in a handful of countries in the Middle East (and India, which is definitely a stage 3 country). The second is an article from a recent edition of the New York Times. Watch/read both.
Questions to answer:
Traditional roles for women….this is a source of tension all over the world!
Instead of marrying men through arranged marriages, Japan’s women are marrying themselves.
What is the solution here?
Is it possible for women to have a career, control over their reproductive decisions, AND a family?
What does a “healthy” stage 4/5 country look like in terms of gender roles?

Evaluate Anthony Bourdain’s A Cook’s Tour

I wrote an intro and some topic sentences that I wanted each paragraph to be about, it is about the episode “A Taste of Tokyo” on the series “A Cook’s Tour”

This is the prompt
Choose any Anthony Bourdain episode (from any of his shows, A Cook’s Tour, No Reservations, The Layover, and/or Parts Unknown). Analyze (and explain) what you think he is trying to argue about the food culture he visits. Then, research that food culture yourself. Do you think he is right? Wrong? Evaluate his argument and then enter in a direct argument with his depiction of the food culture in question.
