Concert Report Outline
Introduction: Basic Information
Briefly describe the concert. Who performed? What pieces were performed? Where was it performed? Describe the performance space, physical surroundings, appearance of the performers and the audience, and/or your own mental and emotional state before the concert began.
Critical Listening: Musical Elements
Choose TWO selections from the concert to discuss, and compare/contrast their musical elements (identifying and explaining at least two elements per piece). Discuss in detail any of the basic elements (melody, rhythm, harmony, dynamics, or tone color) that we have discussed in class. Talk about how these two selections are alike, or different, according to what you heard. Remember to define all musical terms.
Critical Listening: Subjective
For the two selections discussed above, relate the musical elements to either imagery or mood and compare/contrast the two selections you discussed according to these response types.
Conclusion
Did you like or dislike the experience overall? Why? Was the experience new to you? How was it different from what you expected? Was it like or unlike other concerts you have attended? Were there any surprises at the concert? Would you go again if it weren’t a requirement? How has this course helped you to experience live music event differently?

Historically, police executives have sought to distance themselves from police misconduct as a form of political survival. Rather than addressing the true causes, they seek quick fixes. Quick fixes serve as a catalyst for police misconduct and encourage only a narrow investigative focus, as opposed to exploring systemic problems.

The Example

The Forest of Arden in As You Like It by William Shakespeare is classified as a work belonging to pastoral literature. In pastoral literature, the countryside is not only a place, but it reflects the beliefs and values of the author. In As You Like It, the Forest of Arden symbolizes a place of rest, reflection, and rebirth. Within the play, many characters, such as Duke Senior, Orlando, and Rosalind find themselves in the forest at one point. While they are there, they each learn something new about themselves. Duke Senior realizes his inner strength and knowledge while in the forest and enjoys learning while in the peace and quiet. Orlando sacrifices his own image for an old man and proves to be a truly kind man in the forest. Rosalind explores how her own thoughts and actions affect those around her while in the woods. She takes the time there to
decide what she wants to do with her life.
Shakespeare used the forest as a place for the characters to reflect and escape from the fast-paced life of the court. This suggests that Shakespeare believed in the need for simplicity and personal growth. The inclusion of the two settings, the country, and the court, shows that Shakespeare believed in the idea of separating himself from others to focus inward. By includingThe Forest of Arden in the play, Shakespeare perhaps showed some of the beliefs he held for his own personal life by adding this setting. The Forest of Arden is a place where the average day in the court did not exist. This allowed for personal and spiritual growth among the characters.

Introduction
It is important to realize that only investigating accidents is a narrow approach in the tradition of fly-crash-fix-fly. There are often dozens if not hundreds of incidents and near misses that could provide valuable information for improving safety. However, if people are not reporting them for fear of punitive action, or if the organization emphasis is too heavy on production and profit and not safety, these opportunities for change can slip through our fingers.
Instructions
Read the Prologue and Epilogue from the SMS text and Safety Culture Environment on page 28. Consider the aspects of a safety culture and identify specific actions taken by the SMS team in the Quest Airlines scenario. How did they create a safety culture and how did it help in improving safety? Finally, review the events of the Colgan and Alaska accidents. Can you identify any aspects of a safety culture on a personal or organizational level? Would a safety culture have influenced the outcome in these accidents? Discuss how the end result may have been different and why, and what the airlines could do to enrich their safety culture.

15 Points – Identify at least three specific actions that illustrate QALs ongoing effort to encourage their safety culture.
15 Points – Explain how the safety culture at QAL will improve their overall safety.
15 Points – Discuss the Colgan and Alaska accidents reviewed in previous assignments. How and why might a safety culture have changed the outcome of each accident? Identify at least one specific action the airlines could take to encourage their safety culture.
5 Points – Your response is well written and free of any significant grammatical or spelling errors.
