Workforce Management and Rewards

For this Capstone assignment, you will research what motivates employees to perform. Then, you will assess how management type and rewards can improve employee motivation. A motivated workforce is integral to organizational success and profitability.
For this CTA, you will create a workforce management and rewards model using a specific motivation philosophy/theory. Explain the main reasons that employees are motivated to perform in the workplace. In other words, what are the strategies or actions that motivate a typical organizational employee?
Describe the role of compensation in the workplace, including its effect/impact on employee performance.

Do some research on corporate sustainability reports. Research at least three corporations that issue annual reports on their progress towards sustainability. Can you research one company that does not and explain why not? Can you discover whether or not if has plans to change? (300 words)

RESPOND TO THE FOLLOWING POST ( 100 WORDS EACH)

A corporate sustainability report entails the revelation of the organization’s impact on environmental, economic, and social performance, whether solicited, voluntary, or required. Sustainability reporting effectively heightens corporate transparency and engagement(Doktoralina et al., 2011). It improves corporate reputations via transparent risk management and social responsibility programs. Additionally, sustainability reports help organizations build consumer confidence. The shareholders and consumers are able to comprehend the8spectrum of the organization’s value. PepsiCo, UPS, and Coca-Cola Company issue yearly reports on their progress toward sustainability. Coca-Cola is dedicated to respecting human rights, investing in local communities, and conserving the environment with its recycling and packaging efforts. The company aspires to make products and brands that are loved by people. This creates a sustainable future for the planet and their business.
Furthermore, Coca-Cola Company focuses on the highest priority social, governance, and environmental issues for their company, stakeholders, and system to enable them to develop and conduct their corporate strategy. As one of the most recognized and most prominent companies in the world, Coca-Cola Company forms partnerships with incredible organizations enabling them to advance ESG goals and develop corporate strategy. PepsiCo issues sustainability reports on the financial returns of the company. In essence, PepsiCo’s sustainability report portrays the progress and efforts towards a sustainable food system. UPS is committed to connecting to the community, implementing a greenhouse gas policy, and empowering its workforce. The business model used by Netflix is unsustainable. Notably, Netflix’s business model encourages individuals to make use of the internet, hence contributing to subsequent energy usage and collective digital traffic. Fossil fuels are used globally to provide electricity; therefore, more internet usage heightens the daily emissions. Netflix focuses on improving environmental sustainability to create a habitable world where individuals can entertain themselves. By end of 2022, the company aspires to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions by focusing on sustainability.

Q1) Sustainability reporting is exhaustive in clearly stating the company’s initiatives towards sustainability and various measures that project the firm’s sustainability results. In the last 20 years, more and more companies are joining the sustainability bandwagon not only to face the regulatory pressures and criticism but also to project a clean image to the customers. But, there are few companies which are not issuing any sustainability report.
Amazon, the US based world’s largest ecommerce firm never produced a Sustainability report. Amazon’s prime focus is customer satisfaction, increasing sales and expansion to various countries across the world. Its 14 core leadership principles are centered on the business aspects and none of these point sustainability or social responsibility perspective. Neither does Amazon invested in the corporate social responsibility activities like charity, environmental sustainability, public welfare etc. Amazon had never disclosed the information related to greenhouse gas emissions, carbon footprint, any activities aimed at sustainability etc. In fact, many of its facilities have hard to worse working conditions and there are many complaints from the employees regarding exploitation. Amazon is able to sustain threats and complaints on its social responsibility profile due to its aggressive nature where it retracted its plans whenever an opposition was faced but never bowed down to the pressure.
Q2) Though Amazon’s willful ignorance to corporate social responsibility didn’t cost it much in terms of its business, its reputation was questioned by critics multiple times and its activities are compared to the competitors which is the reason why the firm has started its journey towards sustainable initiatives. Jeff Bezos, Amazon’s CEO has proposed to build Air conditioning warehouses to its employees and make working conditions better. It has invested in wind energy and solar energy to produce renewable sources of energy for electricity. It started promoting recyclable packaging to reduce industrial waste generation.

Review the challenges that human resource departments face in today’s business environment. Which issues are most daunting? Why?

Please rewrite the following answer:

Discussion Question: Review the challenges that human resource departments face in today’s business environment. Which issues are most daunting? Why?

Dission Answer:
Challenges that human resource departments face in today’s business environment
Layoffs and Outsourcing: Layoffs tend to increase employees’ levels of stress, burnout, insecurity and decrease morale, job satisfaction and trust. Such changes are linked to greater turnover, diminished willingness of employees to help one another and poorer job/company performance. Outsourcing is challenging due to conflicts between in-house and outsourced teams. This may be due to cultural differences, gaps in communication and negative perception about the outsourced company.
Wage Gap: Most American believe that CEO pay has gotten out of hand and is too high. We can all agree that appropriate pay for experience, approach, profile, education, training and sacrifices is fair due to top performance. CEOs are making decisions every day and they should get paid more than a typical worker but +300x than the typical worker is excessive and exorbitant. It’s understood that higher positions will demand higher standards and consequently higher pay packages, but each day seems like the pay gap between an average worker and an executive grows absurdly and eventually leads to other problems.
Older Workers: The baby boomer generation is preparing for retirement which put us in a potential crisis-the loss of key talent and experience through massive retirements. Also, one of the challenges working with older work force is generally they may face many problems like aged related physical and mental decline that come with growing older. Another challenge is that older employees have more seniority and get higher salaries which means increased wages.
Younger Workers: Millennials- as the first digital-native generation- and Gen Z, the skills they bring to the table, from social networking to their in-depth understanding of technology, open minds, multitaskers, and multicultural perspective, could benefit every department. The challenge comes when some of these employees come an unprecedented sense of entitlement. In millennials’ case, some people ask for a salary far higher that what they’re worth, or expect a job immediately after graduating from college just because they graduated. Although there’s evidence that shows that entitled people may actually be more creative, managing this group can sometimes be a challenge because that behavior could create a bad work environment.
Women Workers: Although women have come a long way, women still face considerable barriers, obstacles and challenges in the workplace. Some of the biggest challenges women face in today’s workplace are: pregnancy discrimination, sexual harassment, gender pay gap, career advancement, lack of childcare support, exclusion in male-dominated fields. While the ground may be considerably more level than how it was a few decades ago, there is still a long way before we can say that there’s true equality in the workplace.
Work-Life Balance: Workers across all ages/genders actively pursue more flexibility and work-life balance. The challenge of reducing work hours is that it has the potential to reduce productivity. Also another challenge is high turnover rates, which could impact the company creating extra costs such as: rehiring, training, etc.
Lawsuits: The United States has become a very litigious society. Based on the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charges of workplace discrimination occur fairly frequently. Many lawsuits are legitimate, this can cost a business its reputation. Others are plain silly but this can still cost a company thousands or millions of dollars. Most common workplace lawsuits are: personal injury, overtime, discrimination, harassment and wrongful termination.
Which issues are more daunting and why?
In 2022, one of the most daunting challenges companies have to deal with is creating a healthy working environment both psychologically and physically. Companies are offering better and more varied benefits and expanding coverage to mental health services. Benefits are not enough to improve health and well-being so there’s a need to improve employee health and wellness probably offering more flexibility, more time off, or better managing schedules and workloads to provent employees from feeling overwhelmed.
