Topic: In the Real Word: Scenario for Discussion

In Shavertown, Pennsylvania, the owner of Wilkes-Barre Bookkeeping LLC was indicted for embezzling over $375,000 of his clients’ payroll tax remittance between 2010 and 2016 and for lying to clients about his actions. Additionally, he embezzled nearly $70,000 from a nonprofit for which he was the treasurer. He was sentenced to 38 months in prison and ordered to pay restitution totaling nearly $500,000.
Do you think this was a fair sentence? Why or why not?

Spirituality

Spirituality is the core of our being. It doesn’t have anything to do with religion. It is our soul AMD what we choose to do with it.

How does the text define religion, and what role does religion play in your life?

Respond to 2 of the following prompts in an original discussion post.

Prompts:

1. How does the text define religion, and what role does religion play in your life? Think of any two social institutions such as education or marriage and family which adhere to the religious principles of the majority. Hypothetically speaking, how would the society be structured if those religious principles were removed.

2. Emile Durkheim believed that religion promotes social cohesion, social control, and offers meaning and purpose to human life. Do you agree with him? Why or why not? Provide at least 2 specific instances, from your experience or others’, to support your view point.

3. German philosopher, journalist, and revolutionary socialist Karl Marx (1818–1883) studied the social impact of religion and believed religion reflects the social stratification of society. He argued that religion maintains inequality and perpetuates the status quo. Pick a social situation or an event in the past 5 years, and using an NBC Learn video clip, support or critique Marx’s take on religion.

Neighborhood analysis project

For the analysis, you will fill out a worksheet available on Blackboard. In it, you will select five items of data that you collected (including at least one statistic, one observation, and one photo) in the place you chose and analyze them in a sociological way. What this means is that you will use your sociological imagination and concepts you learned in class to try to explain the data. In other words, by analyzing your data you will ask yourself, “why is this place like this?”, and the analysis is the answer to that question using a sociological perspective. What is going on in the structure of society or this place that shapes it in a unique way. Each of the five analyses should be 100 words,

design thinking- what is the experience design, employee experience (EX) and customer experience (CX)?

Summary:
Experience Design is one of the topics that heavily use Design Thinking. This essay gives you the perspective of experience design, employee experience (EX) and customer experience (CX).
The essay has three parts:
1- What is experience design? What is Customer Experience (CX), and what is Employee Experience (EX)? (2%)
2- How is Design Thinking used to design customer and employee experiences? (3%)
3- Historically, organizations have a gap between EX and CX. This means that traditionally EX is owned by the HR department, and the Marketing department owns CX. This inhibits the employees from understanding the customers and their actual needs. Please read this article to give you the perspective: The link between EX and CX.

In part 3, you should investigate the link between EX and CX. Review the research, industry reports, or expert blog posts about the gap between EX and CX. Discuss the gap, what is the current status of the discussion and what should be done to fill the gap between EX and CX (10%).

For your essay, you can either choose a specific industry and context, or you can generally discuss the topic.

The essay should follow the academic principles with the APA style and proper referencing and citation.
