For the vision and mission section you
should develop your own vision and mission statements for the company.
The information you provide in the
sections of this report for the External Analysis, the Internal Analysis, and
the Market Analysis will largely be a summary from the Part 1 & Part 2
reports you wrote earlier. From the “positioning the organization in the
marketplace” section onward is really the substance of your strategic plan.
In the long-term goals/objectives section
of the plan, you need to outline 3-5 key goals/objectives that you would like
to see the organization accomplish over the next five years.
In the strategic options and choices
section, you need to propose several potential strategies that could help the
organization meet all of its goals/objectives. Begin by briefly explaining each
strategic option, then analyse each strategic option by outlining the pros
and cons of choosing this option.
Finally, out of the list of strategic options you have outlined, you
need to choose which of these options you are planning to implement over the
next five years, which will allow you to best achieve the goals/objectives of

Safety Management Systems (SMS) Improvement Proposal

You have spent a considerable amount of time in this course learning about how an SMS works. One of the most important tasks for a safety professional is collecting information and presenting your recommendations in a proposal to the leadership team to obtain the buy-in and commitment to process improvement that will allow the SMS to be effective.

In this course, you have learned about utilizing the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle. While PDCA forms the root of a quality control continuous improvement process, it can also be used in many other applications. You will use the PDCA cycle not only to develop this assignment but as the structure of your SMS improvement proposal.

Use the PDCA cycle as follows to develop your proposal:
Plan: Review your Unit VII SMS review project to analyze two identified problems or gaps and hypothesize solutions by applying concepts learned in this course.
Do: Develop a proposal to address the deficiencies and improve SMS effectiveness. Conduct additional research and resource selection as needed.
Check: Review all information you have collected, your draft proposal, resources, and any other supporting documents or information to ensure that everything is accurate and correct.
Act: Submit your final proposal in Blackboard.
Your proposal will also follow the PDCA cycle, and you must address each of the following.
Plan:
Summarize your findings of the two identified problems or gaps.
Include the analysis methods used in your SMS review.
Introduce the opportunities for improvement and your proposed changes or solutions.
Do:
Outline how the proposed changes should be implemented.
Outline employee participation and involvement.
Indicate any needed education or training.
