Scholars,
Men are more likely than women to use almost all types of illicit drugs, and illegal drug use is more likely to result in emergency department visits or overdose deaths for men than for women. “Illicit” refers to the use of illegal drugs, including marijuana (according to federal law) and misuse of prescription drugs. Men have higher rates of use or dependence on illicit drugs and alcohol than women for most age groups. However, women are just as likely as men to develop a substance use disorder. In addition, women may be more susceptible to craving and relapse, which are key phases of the addiction cycle. Research has shown that women often use drugs differently, respond to drugs differently, and can have unique obstacles to effective treatment, such as not being able to find child care or being prescribed treatment that has not been adequately tested on women.
Substance use was considered to be primarily a male problem, and many substance abuse studies are conducted with a predominance of male participants. However, recent substance abuse research indicates significant gender differences in the substance-related epidemiology, social factors, and characteristics, biological responses, progressions to dependence, medical consequences, co-occurring psychiatric disorders, and barriers to treatment entry, retention, and completion. The epidemiology of women’s drug use presents challenges separate from those raised by men’s drug use. A convergence of evidence suggests that women with substance use disorders are more likely than men to face multiple barriers affecting access and entry to substance abuse treatment. Gender-specific medical problems as a result of the interplay of gender-specific drug use patterns and sex-related risk behaviors create an environment in which women are more vulnerable than men to human immunodeficiency virus. Individual characteristics and treatment approaches can differentially affect outcomes by gender. All of these differences have important clinical, treatment, and research implications.

What is Performance Management

Assignment Details
Performance management can be used to encourage effective and clear communication and documentation between managers and employees. In addition, Performance management systems allow for professional and personal development goals to be achieved by setting clear expectations. Performance management can be a critical tool in attracting, identifying, and retaining a talented workforce. If done right, performance management can give companies a competitive edge that will allow them to rise above the rest.
The Vice President of Human Resources (HR) has just returned from a conference, and one the main topics that captured her attention was performance management, which has come a long way since her entry into the industry 25 years ago. She has tasked you, the Director of HR, with developing a report that explains the challenges associated with performance management and possible solutions to address workforce performance within the organization. This information will support her recommendations to implement a new performance management system within the organization.
To help you in your research, she has given you access to some videos that will help to cover some of the main points of the topic: Unit 1 IP LinkedIn Learning Path.
You will view the first 2 parts of the course that include all videos in the following:
Introduction to Performance Management
Building a Performance Management System
Use the following template to help you complete this assignment: U1 Template.
In your report, respond to the following:
What is a performance management system?
Examine at least 1 challenge that was identified in the example of John and Nina in the video titled, What exactly is a Performance Management System. How can this type of challenge affect the organization?
Discuss the 3 impacts of not giving employees proper feedback.
In one of the videos that you viewed, the lecturer spoke about managers using inappropriate performance management techniques. Discuss 2 of the effects that can occur.
Identify and explain the 8 components of a performance management system.
Explain the steps in the performance management process discussed in the video titled, Model of the Performance Management Process.
Why is it important to set expectations? How can this be accomplished?
Is the performance appraisal the most important part of the performance management system? Explain your response.
Discuss 3 best practices that can be implemented in the disciplinary procedure.
Explain at least 3 techniques that can be used to analyze your performance management system.
Submitting your assignment in APA format means, at a minimum, you will need the following:
Title page: Remember the running head. The title should be in all capitals.
Length: 3 pages minimum
Abstract: This is a summary of your paper, not an introduction. Begin writing in third person.
Body: This begins on the page following the title page and abstract page and must be double-spaced (be careful not to triple- or quadruple-space between paragraphs). The typeface should be 12-pt. Times Roman or 12-pt. Courier in regular black type. Do not use color, bold type, or italics, except as required for APA-level headings and references. The deliverable length of the body of your paper for this assignment is 3 pages. In-body academic citations to support your decisions and analysis are required. A variety of academic sources is encouraged.
Reference page: References that align with your in-body academic sources are listed on the final page of your paper. The references must be in APA format using appropriate spacing, hanging indent, italics, and uppercase and lowercase usage as appropriate for the type of resource used. Remember, the Reference page is not a bibliography but a further listing of the abbreviated in-body citations used in the paper. Every referenced item must have a corresponding in-body citation.

Algorithms & Data Structures

You are to create a technical solution for the analysis and design of a real-world scenario using object-oriented modelling tools (such as UML 2.0).
The scenario could be based on examples found in the essential reading; “Data Structure and Algorithmic Thinking with Python: Data Structure and Algorithmic Puzzles.” or “Introduction to Algorithms”.
Alternatively, with agreement from your tutor, students can base their assignments on a real-world programming scenario of their choice if it meets the learning outcomes for the assignment.

This week you will demonstrate your ability to adapt to a particular rhetorical situation and writing context. You will write a piece that achieves a specific goal. This assignment allows you to demonstrate how effectively you can compose an original written work that employs appropriate rhetorical situation, genre, and organization.

Part 1:
Choose 1 topic you are interested in and ensure it can be written about in 1 of the following genres:
Professional email advocating for a change at work

Create a maximum 525-word written piece that includes the necessary components for your chosen genre.

Address the following in your written piece:
The genre’s audience and your faculty member
Samples and trends (e.g., citations, word choice, writing to the correct official, etc.) for your chosen genre
Correct formatting for your chosen genre

Part 2:
Insert a page break after your piece of writing.

Write a reflection addressing the following questions in at least 1 sentence each:
What genre did you choose for your written piece? How does your writing demonstrate this genre?
All writing has a purpose that is unique to the situation. What did you hope to accomplish with your written piece?
What research did you do for this assignment?

Cite and format references for your written piece according to APA guidelines. Do this to the best of your ability or use a citation generator if you need help.

Excel Document

Please complete the following Excel document. For the first tab (chapters 7 & 8), please fill out the boxes to find confidence intervals and then hypothesis test several different alternative hypotheses.
For part 2 (chapter 10), please find the correlation coefficient and various critical values and p-val to confirm there is correlation. Plot a scatter plot of the data too. Finally, answer the following question on your D2L submission:
What is the third lurking variable that is responsible for the correlation and why? (Note: the two variables do NOT directly affect each other (chocolate does not make you win Nobel prizes); there is a third variable that relates the two together)

communication case 7-1

Case 2: Ethics Dilemma: Resistance to Clawback CEO Severance Pay at United Airlines

Case 2: Ethics Dilemma: Resistance to Clawback CEO Severance Pay at United Airlines

A recent scandal involving United Airlines’ (former) CEO Jeffrey Smisek led to his termination. Smisek re-instituted an unprofitable air route between Newark International Airport and an airport in Columbia, South Carolina. Although re-establishing a money-losing air route is not unethical, Smisek made the decision outside the standard decision processes. Smisek made the decision to start up the unprofitable air route in response to a threat by David Samson, Chair of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, to prohibit the airline from building a hangar at the Newark Airport.
The United board of directors terminated Smisek’s employment during a federal corruption investigation on other matters. Smisek received a generous severance package including cash and restricted stock totaling nearly $29 million. Outraged by this decision, a shareholder group filed a lawsuit, demanding that the United board of directors clawback Smisek’s severance compensation because of the circumstances under which he was fired. United’s board of directors refused, arguing that taking back Smisek’s severance package would cause substantial harm to its ability to recruit and retain talent.
Questions:
11-8. As a compensation professional, what would you do?
11-9. What factor(s) in this ethical dilemma might influence a person (or group) to make a less-than-ethical decision?
