Final research essay: Has media convergence increased social or political participation?

Students will present a theoretically informed argument that responds to, and builds on, ideas sourced from course material and independent research. You should define the issue you have chosen to study, the concept(s) you use to critically assess the issue and show how this issue plays out in real life examples (e.g. media texts, practices, technologies).
Such a critical engagement is notably different from an approach that simply seeks to summarize a topic. Students should note that they are being assessed on the quality of their engagement with the issues highlighted by the essay question, and the quality of the argument they develop in response.
Your essay MUST clearly identify the Essay Question (i.e. copy and paste the question number and entire question) at the beginning of the essay.
Scholarly Research requirement
You will be expected to show evidence of scholarly research by referencing appropriate readings from the Reader and at least six (6) external academic sources, such as books and journal articles. As usual, lecture slides should not be cited.
Essay topics
Henry Jenkins claims that we live in an era of media convergence, which shapes the new media environment throughout technological, corporate and cultural levels. Has media convergence increased social or political participation? Answer through an analysis of a contemporary media platform and discuss in relation to the differing types of convergence.

The final assignment provides students with an opportunity to reflect on key themes and ideas that have been addressed in particular weeks, and across the subject as a whole, regarding the social role(s) performed by media institutions, technologies, texts, practices and audiences, and to offer a theoretically-informed response and/or argument using concepts and ideas sourced from course material and independent research. Where appropriate, you should illustrate your points and claims with examples (e.g. media texts, practices, technologies). Your essay should aim to develop a critical stance or position on the topic or question, supported by scholarly evidence. Such a critical engagement is notably different from an approach that simply seeks to summarise a given topic area, and students should note that they are being assessed on the quality of their engagement with the issue or issues at stake, as highlighted by the essay question, and the quality of the argument they develop in response.

Submission will be verified via Turnitin for any form of plagiarism. A similarity score of up to 30% is allowed without penalty. The answer document must also include your name and student ID.
You are given THREE submission attempts. If the file is uploaded in any other format that is not recognised by Turnitin and you don’t receive a similarity score – the assessment will not be graded.
Where mathematical calculations are required, you must state the equation used and all the workings in your answer.
Please write answers in a separate Microsoft Word document. Indicate the question and part number clearly followed by your answer:
You may use hand-drawn diagrams where applicable. Include the image of the diagram – use balanced resolution so the information in the image is readable (not blur). If the solution is not readable, no marks will be awarded.

What is (are) the theoretical perspective(s) you used to develop your conceptual framework?

I have made a conceptual framework for my thesis, adapted from the Planned Behavior Theory. The variables I have used are from 2 papers, Hung et al. (2011) and from Kim and Ko (2012). Find all the information on the attached file.

Please answer to my teacher’s questions :
1. What is (are) the theoretical perspective(s) you used to develop your conceptual framework?
2. What do such theoretical perspective(s) originally say?
3. How could the constructs shown in your research diagram be explained by such a theoretical perspective(s)?
4. Based on the existing literature and such a theoretical perspective(s), what’s new in your research diagram?
5.
Based on the existing literature and such a theoretical perspective(s),
what new knowledge could we learn from your research diagram?
6. What’s the story/ motivation/ background for you to come up with such a research diagram?
Please make sure your answers are based on the literature with citations.

I think only the papers of Hung et al.(2011) and Kim and Ko(20212) have to be used to find those theoretical perspectives.
