Write a new U.S. history textbook, covering the years from 1919 to 2022.

We want to hear your interpretations, and we want you to support your essays with specific and relevant examples from the readings; required films, where relevant; lectures; and section discussions. The trick is to make an argument that includes a thesis and to use your evidence wisely and well. Be creative, and please be bold, and don ‘t be afraid to disagree with your professor and/or teaching assistants. Please be sure to address every issue raised by each prompt! Your exam will be read as a whole. Please limit EACH of your essays to 1200 words, and understand that we’ll stop reading at 1500 words. You MUST contextualize and analyze at least two primary sources for every essay prompt, except Part I, Question 4. You don’t need to use footnotes unless you are citing a source from outside the syllabus. Needs to have to use some evidence from the textbook “Give Me Liberty!: An American History (Seagull Sixth Edition) (Vol. 2)”

Choose from one of the four prompts
1. Compare and contrast the U.S. approach in promoting “freedom” in Asia as part of its foreign policy goals (World War II’s Pacific War, the Vietnam/Second Indochina War, the Gulf Wars, and Afghanistan) with the often contradictory societal and governmental treatment of Asians and Asian Americans back home (e.g., internment, Yellow Power movement, post 9/11 suspicion of Arab Americans, Trump’s “Muslim Ban.”). If you see any differences between foreign and domestic policy, how do you explain them and the reasons for them? To what degree, if at all, have the ways in which Asian American experienced “freedom” in the United States been affected by US foreign policy towards Asia?
2. Bob Marley once said, “That until the basic human rights/Are equally guaranteed to all/Without regard to race/Dis a War.” (“War,” 1976). Apply his statement to Americans’ struggle for civil rights from 1919-2022. How have the changing definitions of freedom and equality helped and/or hurt the fight for equal protection of the laws? How have THREE different groups of Americans inspired each other in their struggle for human rights? Consider differences within the groups–e.g., differences based on race, sex, and class–as well as differences between them.
3. How, if at all, has the United States federal government, from the 1920s to the present, aimed to make capitalism more equitable for its citizens? How has it succeeded and/or failed? Your answer should include discussion of specific policy initiatives and their consequences for US politics, society, and culture.
4. Congratulations! You’ve been selected to write a new U.S. history textbook, covering the years from 1919 to 2022. This is a huge deal; millions of students around the country will learn how you think we should interpret U.S. history. It’s also potentially a huge money-maker for you. Your first task is to write the introduction to your textbook. Your introduction should introduce the major theme(s) you want students to explore as they learn about the past and brief discussion of each chapter. Include a title for the textbook and each chapter. As you create your chapters, show how you will divide up this 103-year stretch, identify the key turning points, and explain their significance. Note: we strongly suggest re-reading Foner’s introduction to get a sense for what is typically included in a textbook introduction.

Explain why relatively small changes in companies’ revenues can result in relatively large changes in their earnings or losses.

Prior to beginning work on this discussion, please read the Investing Newsletter of Forbes Operating Leverage (Links to an external site.). The Finnish company Rovio Entertainment Corporation (Links to an external site.) that produces and sells the game Angry Birds, following years of falling earnings, job cuts and divestments announced that its revenue increased 34% in 2016 to 190 million euros ($201 million dollars). According to Rosendahl, the operating result improved to a profit of 17.5 million euros from a loss of 21 million in 2015, increasing earnings by 83% (Rosendahl, 2017). In 2015, Rovio Entertainment Corporation announced that its revenues for 2014 decreased nine percent compared to those of 2013; even worse, its earnings had decreased by 73% (Read the article, Investors Take Flight After Angry Birds Maker Warns on Profit (Links to an external site.)).
After reading Forbes’ Investing Newsletter, in an initial post of at least 200 words, explain why relatively small changes in companies’ revenues can result in relatively large changes in their earnings or losses. In other words, if a company’s sales increase 12%, why do its earnings not also increase 12%?

Describe the data that could be used and how the data might be collected and accessed.

Discussion: The Application of Data to Problem-Solving
In the modern era, there are few professions that do not to some extent rely on data. Stockbrokers rely on market data to advise clients on financial matters. Meteorologists rely on weather data to forecast weather conditions, while realtors rely on data to advise on the purchase and sale of property. In these and other cases, data not only helps solve problems, but adds to the practitioner’s and the discipline’s body of knowledge.
Of course, the nursing profession also relies heavily on data. The field of nursing informatics aims to make sure nurses have access to the appropriate date to solve healthcare problems, make decisions in the interest of patients, and add to knowledge.
In this Discussion, you will consider a scenario that would benefit from access to data and how such access could facilitate both problem-solving and knowledge formation.
To Prepare:
Reflect on the concepts of informatics and knowledge work as presented in the Resources.
Consider a hypothetical scenario based on your own healthcare practice or organization that would require or benefit from the access/collection and application of data. Your scenario may involve a patient, staff, or management problem or gap.
By Day 3 of Week 1
Post a description of the focus of your scenario. Describe the data that could be used and how the data might be collected and accessed. What knowledge might be derived from that data? How would a nurse leader use clinical reasoning and judgment in the formation of knowledge from this experience?
By Day 6 of Week 1
Respond to at least two of your colleagues* on two different days, asking questions to help clarify the scenario and application of data, or offering additional/alternative ideas for the application of nursing informatics principles.
*Note: Throughout this program, your fellow students are referred to as colleagues.

What factors influence a student nurse’s decision in choosing his or her first job after graduation?

Create a Microsoft Word document identifying the three types of data collection you would use and answer the following questions. Be sure to include how you would defend your choice of data collection method in each question and identify if a combination of methods would be appropriate.

How did Florence Nightingale choose elements to focus on when she began to formalize nursing as a profession?
What influences whether a nurse reports a medication error to his or her supervisor?
