Scenario:
A city’s administration isn’t driven by the goal of maximizing
revenues or profits but instead looks at improving the quality of life of its
residents. Many American cities are confronted with high traffic and
congestion. Finding parking spaces, whether in the street or a parking lot, can
be time consuming and contribute to congestion. Some cities have rolled out
data-driven parking space management to reduce congestion and make traffic more
fluid.
You’re a data analyst working for a mid-size city that has
anticipated significant increments in population and car traffic. The city is evaluating
whether it makes sense to invest in infrastructure to count and report the
number of parking spaces available at the different parking lots downtown. This
data would be collected and processed in real-time, feeding an app that
motorists can access to find parking space availability in different parking
lots throughout the city.
LotCode: a unique code that identifies the parking lot
LotCapacity: a number with the respective parking lot capacity
LotOccupancy: a number with the current number of cars in the
parking lot
TimeStamp: a day/time combination indicating the moment when
occupancy was measured
Day: the day of the week corresponding to the TimeStamp
Insert a new column, OccupancyRate,
recording occupancy rate as a percentage with 1 decimal. For instance, if the
current LotOccupancy is 61 and LotCapacity is
577, then the OccupancyRate would be reported as 10.6 (or
10.6%).
Using the
OccupancyRate and Day columns, construct box plots for each
day of the week. You can use Insert > Insert Statistic Chart >Box and
Whisker for this purpose. Is the median occupancy rate approximately the same
throughout the week? If not, which days have lower median occupancy rates?
Which days have higher median occupancy rates? Is this what you expected?
Using the OccupancyRate
and LotCode columns, construct box plots for each parking lot.
You can use Insert > Insert Statistic Chart >Box and Whisker for this
purpose. Do all parking lots experience approximately equal occupancy rates?
Are some parking lots more frequented than others? Is this what you expected?
Select any 2 parking lots. For each of
them, prepare a scatter plot showing occupancy rate
against TimeStamp for the week 11/20/2016 – 11/26/2016. Are
occupancy rates time dependent? If so, which times seem to experience the
highest occupancy rates? Is this what you expected?
Prepare a 12- to 16-slide presentation with
detailed speaker notes and audio, graphs, and tables.
Your audience is the
city council, which is responsible for deciding whether the city invests
resources to set in motion the smart parking space app.
Complete the following in your presentation:
Outline the rationale and goals
of the project
Utilize box plots showing the
occupancy rates for each day of the week. Include your interpretation of
results.
Utilize box plots showing the
occupancy rates for each parking lot. Include your interpretation of
results
Provide scatter plots showing
occupancy rate against the time of day of your selected 2 parking lots.
Include your interpretation of results
Make a recommendation about
continuing with the implementation of this project.
Include speaker
notes that convey the details you would give if you were presenting. You will
record your speaker notes.
Ensure that the
slides contain only essential information and as little text as possible.

Philo On Husbandry
Read Philo On Husbandry
The purpose of this assignment is to learn how to think about critical reading and evaluating sources.
Introduction
Introduce the reading and the author and give a summary of the contents, its length, and how the author develops his argument in your own words and also state what is most cogent/compelling about the work.
Background
This portion is about the author. Please research the author from valid sources and conduct a background analysis of the author. Use multiple sources for this to cast a wider net when getting information for this part.
STAY AWAY FROM DICTIONARIES/ENCYCLOPEDIAS/WIKIPEDIA — THEY ARE NOT LEGITIMATE VETTED ACADEMIC SOURCES [will lose +/- grade for citing any dictionary, encyclopedia or Wikipedia]
The way to get around this is to look at introductory chapters in books on the author you chose (you do not have to read the whole book – skim for what is useful) or any article on the author that promises by its title to be a general assessment..
Discussion
–> Accuracy: consider how accurate. Here you can bring in sources that show Philo knew what he was talking about (or not).
–> Several authors (ancient and after antiquity) tackled the same subject – they can easily be checked out. Make sure to highlight these other authors views and discussion them and how they are similar or different to what Philo writes. Make sure to give sources for material you quote, paraphrase, cite.
–> Add a few opinions… It is fair to state where you are on the spectrum of any debates on the subject.
–> Think as you write what this ancient essay is telling us about the Romans, Greeks, Egyptians, particularly in terms of society. Discuss what the text could be indiciating what society may have been like at the time and the culture around the subject of husbandry.
Bibliography
A list of works cited should be at the end. Please include in your list of works cited each work that you cited via a footnote or imbedded reference in the text.

Turnitin®
This assignment will be submitted to Turnitin®.
The Application Paper is to be submitted through the Add File link below. Your paper will be processed through TurnItIn, and anti-plagiarism service. You are allowed to view the originality report. It usually takes just a few minutes to generate but might require you to refresh the page when it’s ready. This report will identify areas of your paper that can be found elsewhere. Material from other sources will be identified, but if you have place quotation marks around direct quotes, and cited it properly, this is not plagiarism, so don’t get anxious when you see that some of your paper is found in other sources.
If, after reviewing your originality report, you find areas of your paper that need correction with quotation marks or citations, you can make the adjustments on the paper located on your computer and resubmit the paper to TurnItIn. You can do this as many times as you like, once every 24 hours, until the due date and time before the end of 4/12/22.
The Application paper asks you to demonstrate your knowledge of two theories and your insight into yourself.
In 2000 words, you are to apply Erikson’s Psychosocial theory and one other developmental theory described in our textbook to one developmental period of your own life. The second theorist is one of your choosing but one highlighted in our textbook. The period of your life must be one that you have experienced, not one in the future, and is best chosen from experiences you remember. Infancy doesn’t usually lend itself to good papers.
You are to use your own life experiences to demonstrate the strengths and weaknesses of each of the two theories, and use the theories to lend new perspective to your experiences.
An excellent paper is a 50/50 balance between developmental experiences and theoretical explanation, but is fully integrated, not divided into a theory section and a life experience section. It introduces some theoretical material that goes beyond what is found in the textbook. It avoids repetition and packs as much content into the words allowed as is reasonable.
Three non-textbook references are required. The textbook can be used as a reference, and cited, but that would be a fourth reference. APA title page, in-text citations and reference page are required.
