What meanings are conveyed by Wes Anderson’s use of colors in The Royal Tenenbaums (2001)?

Part IV: Final Paper: “A Text and Three Methods”

The Numbers: 10 pages; 12-point font; minimum 3 scholarly sources

Each proposal should have a Research Question or Hypothesis (if proposing a quantitative study) and an explicit naming of the method proposed to answer the question or test the (null) hypothesis.

Each proposal should include a brief descriiption of the text—what you would analyze.

Each proposal should include justification for the analysis/study—that is, why it is worthy of attention.

Each proposal should provide a taste of the analysis or measures to be used in order to demonstrate how you would answer the questions or text the hypothesis.

For textual analyses, the questions can be as broad as something like, “What meanings are conveyed by Wes Anderson’s use of colors in The Royal Tenenbaums (2001)? To answer this question, I propose a semiotic analysis of the prominent colors found in the mise-en-scène of the film.” Though you won’t be completing a full analysis, you should provide a taste of analysis, thereby justifying the proposal.

For qualitative social scientific proposals, the question may also be broad, as long as the topic of interest and co-participants are clearly identified. For example, “Seventeen years after its theatrical release, how do audience members remember Mean Girls (2004)? How would they interpret it today? I propose the use of focus groups to be interviewed prior to a viewing of the film, and following the viewing of the film.” Cite at least one study that had similar aims or focused on a similar group or text. Though you won’t be interviewing anyone, you should provide at least three sample questions you would pose to the focus groups.

For quantitative study proposals, you can propose either a Research Question or at least one Hypothesis. You will need to identify and operationalize variables, as well as name and justify your statistical tests. Because we spent the least amount of time—very little time—with quantitative methods, I advise you not to choose this option unless you successfully completed (and performed well) in COMM 3900: Applied and Social Scientific Methods.

Describe the key economic factors which affect housing prices and how they are determined (HomeGuru).

Housing supply and demand is an example of the effects supply and demand can have on price elasticity. The most recent housing boom from 2000-to 2005 was not only a boom in housing prices but also in-house construction.

Based on your readings, there are a number of factors that determine housing prices. Some are based on economic theories and some are based on more intangible factors. Describe the key economic factors which affect housing prices and how they are determined (HomeGuru).

2. Why is it important to investigate or examine the subject of the article?
3. How are the authors carrying out the task? Are their methods and comments appropriate and adequate to the task?

Discuss the political impact would affect the law makers relationship with the lobbyist of the big corporations and may affect the re-elections option of the State and Congress representatives.

Labor Unions where a major factor in the workforce and the primary goal of the union was to advocate on the behalf of the workers in specific industries and professions. The Unions in America are aligned with AFL-CIO (American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organizations) or the Change to Win Federation which removed itself from the AFL-CIO in 2005 (AFL-CIO). The efforts and support of a group of advocates fighting for equal benefits and wages within a specific trade or profession place a sense of responsibility on the organizations.

The unions traditionally were based on supporting the male dominated trades and professions, and the disparity of wage gaps between women and men remains a problem today. The private sector union are regulated by the NLRA (National Labor Relations Act) which was established in 1935 and has been amended to meet requirements of todays labor market.

Regulatory guidance or statues implemented does not have the immediate affect as a labor union as the regulation as generalized in nature and allows the industry or organization the option to implement the change. Congress passed the Equal Pay Act of 1963 to ensure women were not discriminated against for pay while working in the same position as a male, and the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed by Congress to prohibit discrimination for race, sex or nationality, but only 42 of 50 states have equal pay laws (NCSL, 2022).

Discuss the political impact would affect the law makers relationship with the lobbyist of the big corporations and may affect the re-elections option of the State and Congress representatives. Labor unions are the better options to close the wage gap as the impact in the 1930’s was an example of how strong member unification has on businesses.

Write a discussion on how a population-health approach could be used/is being used to address any healthcare disparities gleaned from your research.

You have been asked to develop an infographic to feature on your healthcare organization’s website. The infographic will visualize vital information about a population health concern (Cancer – Melanoma) to those in your community. The infographic should include the most current state data for your place of residence (Colorado, USA). Strive for data that is published within the past three years. If you are not familiar with creating an infographic/pictograph, you can use the following sites as a guide: Piktochart, Canva, or PicMonkey.

Create an infographic that presents statistical data on this population health concern that is impacting your county or state (Cancer – Melanoma). Sections of the infographic should include:
Data on the incidence rates of diagnosed cases in your county or state (Colorado, USA).
The prevalence of actual number of cases overall, as well as broken down by gender and race (for Colorado, USA).
The most current mortality rates associated with this health concern overall, as well as broken down by gender and race that are impacting your county or state.
Provide a comparison between reported national averages for this health concern to the data for your county or state.
Prepare one to two additional pages of narrative that include the following:
A brief analysis of the data presented within the infographic.
Write a discussion on how a population-health approach could be used/is being used to address any healthcare disparities gleaned from your research.
A descriiption of an initiative implemented for your county, state, or at the national level, that addresses the health concern selected for your infographic.
Provide support with at least two scholarly sources in addition to appropriate data sets.

Describe what aspects of a population health approach are being used to address the problem (Hint: If you click on the topic within the CDC site, they identify best practices or interventions).

There are a number of challenges that impact population health. Visit the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s Status Reports, which highlights the top 10 important public health problems and concerns. These issues feed into population health goals.
