Describe the main point or moral of your narrative:

TOPIC: CHOOSING THE TOPIC for your Narrative Essay that stands out in your life as a learning experience:
This can be an important lesson or a comical lesson. Your narrative can be on a happy topic…it does not necessarily need to be a sad topic.
What is a Narrative?
A Narrative is a story. A good topic to choose is a life-experience, or Personal Narrative (see below). In an essay, we write paragraphs that are 5-7 sentences in length. Our final essay will be 500-700 words in length.
How do I write a Narrative essay thesis statement with three (3) sub-points? See my step-by-step Worksheet Example, below:
WORKSHEET EXAMPLE:
STEP 1:
a) The topic I chose is: Working with my grandpa in his garden.
b) My working thesis is: Working in the garden with my grandfather during childhood summer vacations taught me patience, nurturing, and the value of hard work.
c) Describe the main point or moral of your narrative:
Through the summers of gardening, I learned valuable life-lessons that I use to this very day.
d) List 3 sub-points that you will use to clearly illustrate your moral:
How I learned patience.
How I learned nurturing.
How I learned the value of hard work.

a) The topic I chose is __Negative consequences of homework for my daughter.
My working thesis is __The number of hours my daughter spends after school on homework has taught me some negative effects of homework such as physical and mental health problems, limited social interaction, and discouraged learning.
b) Describe the main point or moral of your narrative:
We all know that homework is important to reinforce the knowledge acquired in class, but the excess of it makes the student lose interest and motivation for studies. They also feel anxious or frustrated by not being able to deliver all the activities on time, which causes their grades to be poor. Children have to enjoy their childhood, share with their family, their schoolmates, do outdoor activities, etc. Otherwise, when they are adults, these negative consequences will manifest.
c) List 3 sub-points that will use to clearly illustrate your moral:
1. Mental and physical health problems.
2. Limited social interaction.
3. Discourages learning.
I have this, but it is not correct

Here is your revised thesis statement:
The number of hours my daughter spends after school on homework has taught me some negative effects of homework such as physical and mental health problems, limited social interaction, and discouraged learning.
What you have listed are three results of the hours your daughter spends on homework. We are NOT writing a report about the effects of homework, you are writing a memoir-like essay about YOU.
Take a look at the example thesis statement I use in my Week 2 Tips Announcement. If I were writing about the effects of working in the garden with my grandpa, I would identify things such as the fertilizer to soil ratio I learned to follow when gardening, or the need to wear sun protection, or the types of insect repellent that works well, etc.
The life-lessons I learned, though, are patience, nurturing, and the value of hard work.
This is what the teacher tells me what I have to do

Which story did you imagine most easily was told in the oral tradition from this week’s reading and what specific characteristics about it made you think about it in that way?

This week we read a variety of short works that all derived from the oral tradition. Thinking back to the information about the oral tradition, consider what makes these stories special in the way they are told generation after generation. Answer both of the following questions using specific examples from this week’s readings:
1. Which story did you imagine most easily was told in the oral tradition from this week’s reading and what specific characteristics about it made you think about it in that way?
2. Pick a different story did and talk about how it revealed aspects about the culture that it came from. What were specifics in the story that lead you to connect that story to the culture it came from?

demonstrate your expertise and knowledge to an individual that has little or no knowledge of communication theory. That “pretend reader” should learn a lot from reading your paper.

You are to select a film and examine several theories of interpersonal communication discussed in your
text to see how they are portrayed in film. The focus will be on how communication is used to initiate,
maintain, and terminate relationships. The film will serve as a vehicle for learning about interpersonal
communication and relationships. You will analyze what the film has shown about the ways people
relate to one another.
The paper should be 3-5 pages long, with a bibliography of at least two sources. Your textbook can be one
of the sources. DO NOT go under two and a half or over four and a half pages. Your analysis should focus
on issues of communication, incorporating material from the readings, your online assignments. You will
need a strong introduction and a conclusion in this paper as well as identify three or four points
(concepts) that you found most enlightening, controversial, or even possibly incorrect. You will be
expected to discuss what individuals did, what happened, and why. Relevant communication theory and
text material should be introduced for each example. You should write this paper as if you were going to
demonstrate your expertise and knowledge to an individual that has little or no knowledge of
communication theory. That “pretend reader” should learn a lot from reading your paper.
The paper should be 3-5 pages, word-processed, double-spaced, 12pt Times New Roman font, with a
cover page. You must cite the course textbook using MLA formatting. When saving your document,
include your last name and the assignment, and save as either a Microsoft Word file (.doc or .docx) or a
Rich Text File (.rtf).

Based on what you have learned in this class, come up with a solid policy that you think should be implemented into the Criminal Justice system.

Based on what you have learned in this class, come up with a solid policy that you think should be implemented into the Criminal Justice system. Base this recommendation off of everything you have learned (e.g., crime, why people commit crimes, victimization, police, courts, corrections ,CJ policy, etc..). Your policy should be directed at either controlling crime or changing police, courts or corrections. Be sure to use several resources to back up your justification for the policy. Also be sure to give your policy a name!
