Aviation Law essay

Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752 (PS752) was a scheduled international passenger flight from Tehran to Kyiv. On 8 January 2020, the Boeing 737-800 was hit by two missiles shortly after taking off from Tehran. All 176 people on board died. The shootdown occurred during the 2019-2021 Persian Gulf crisis.

Since the shooting down of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur in 2014, airline operators, governments and aviation safety agencies have been more vigilant and proactive in operating flights in the vicinity of known conflict zones.

Provide an overview of the legal responsibilities of airline operators in such situations. Also include an account of the processes and considerations that a “reasonable” airline would undertake in such situations. [Note: Students can provide a case study account of a specific airline operators’ practices if considered reasonable.]

Magic Portals (Exit West)

Magical realism is a genre of literature in which most of what happens in the world a story describes is realistic, but a few aspects break the rules of what can happen in normal life, such as in “The Metamorphosis.” So in Lord of the Rings, fantastical things happen all the time, and strange creatures lurk around every corner. On the other hand, in Exit West (which some readers consider to be magical realism), there are the portals but most of everything else seems like it could happen in our world.
What have you noticed about how these portals change life and how they don’t change life? What point do you think Hamid is making with them–in other words, how do they make us look at our own world differently? It may be interesting to know Hamid has said in interviews that he got the idea when he was video conferencing with a friend in a far away place and imagined jumping through his phone to teleport there. (Note that what an author says outside of the original text does not need to limit or direct the meaning you see in it.)

Analyze the quote “What is the use of stories that aren’t even true?” and answer the question “why we should read contemporary books?” by using our books?

‘What is the use of stories that aren’t even true?’ (said by Haroun in Haroun and the Sea of Stories by Salman Rushdie)

By using the book “THe white tiger” by Aravind Adiga and “Minaret” by Leila Aboulela, explain what you learned from it. Your paper should attempt to answer the question ‘why read contemporary fiction?.’ You should give specific examples from your own reading of the text; how did it affect you? Your paper can be 2-4 pages long.

Why do we sleep?, discuss and evaluate the evolutionary, behavioural/cognitive, and clinical evidence for why sleep is important.

INTRODUCTION (250-300 words)
The Introduction needs to set the context of the essay, explain why the topic is important, and state the thesis (contention) in one or two paragraphs.
· Provide a general orientation to the topic and its importance. Ask yourself, why might sleep be important? In what circumstances does a lack of sleep become a problem?
· Define key terms. Some terms can mean slightly different things depending on the context, so it will be important that you define what you mean here. The same can be said for other terms you will likely use. When you write essays, you want to ensure the reader can follow along with what you’re saying and being clear with your definitions is an important part of that.
· State the aim of the essay
· Explain what information about the nature of sleep is gained by examining evolutionary, cognitive,
and behavioural evidence.
· Describe what types of evidence you are going to present (I.e., a road map/signpost). Your
Introduction should finish by telling the reader where the essay is going.
o For example, “This paper will begin by discussing the evidence for (or against) X…” “Then,
it will be argued that Y…”
MIDDLE SECTION (1000-1200 words)
The middle section, made up of 3-4 paragraphs of about 150-250 words each, is where you provide the evidence for your argument. The purpose is to build points, develop ideas, and support the main contention. Each paragraph should treat one line of evidence (e.g., behavioural studies) and will need to include:
• A topic sentence to succinctly orient the reader to what the paragraph will be about • Description and evaluation of two or more experimental research studies
• In-text citations to acknowledge sources of evidence
• Finish with an explanation/linking sentence
Use the paragraph as a unit of composition. The topic sentence should defines the content of the paragraph. The subsequent sentences should describe the evidence for the point you’re making.
CONCLUSION (100-150 words)
In a single paragraph, concisely summarize your own argument and present an overall conclusion that
answers the essay question.
· Restate the aim of the essay and summarize the content briefly (what evidence did you present?)
· How strong is the evidence and what is your conclusion: is sleep important and why?
To address this question, you will need to present evidence that sleep serves as important function in humans. This evidence should include:
· Evolutionary evidence (e.g., Do many animals sleep? Does sleep serve any purpose to an organism?)
· Behavioural/cognitive evidence (e.g., do people behave differently if they have had more or less sleep? Does the type of sleep disruption (REM or NREM) affect these differences? Are there any tasks demonstrating differences in performance depending on the amount of sleep a person has had?
· Clinical evidence (e.g., Is there any relationship between sleep disruption and neurological/psychiatric disorders?)

Store Project II – Retail Merchandising Problem / Business Plan

Store Project 2
This is a continuation of Store Project I.
The objective is to identify an opportunity to provide additional or alternative merchandise within a department or classification at your specific retailer that would increase business.
You may analyze any category of goods.
Building on the information and research from Store Project I, identify a new product category or merchandizing opportunity for the retailer.
Using demographics and psychographics describe how this will increase sales to the existing target market for this retailer (or department) or open up a new target market for this retailer.
Discuss price points for the new product mix. (Will they remain the same or change, and why?).
Describe the new product mix. This may include categories and key core vendors, silhouettes, colors, sizes, pattern, texture. If they are private label, just discuss the categories, not vendors. Include images, key silhouette illustrations, color swatches (at least two 2″ x 2″) and fabric swatches (at least two 2″ x 2″) if applicable. You may use digital images of fabric swatches.
Develop a promotional plan that incorporates a promotional calendar, in store visual promotions, and the use of publicity/advertising/social media for the new product category or merchandising opportunity.
Use photos, computer graphics and typed text to describe the new store layout, floor plans, fixture placements, displays and product mix. Will this involve a separate department, a separate store front, or a pop-up store?
Identify the main competitive retailer or retailers from Store Project 1. Will this change with your new plan? If so, discuss (eg., New category that their main competitors have not yet identified, or a category their main competition is having success with but your retailer is not selling to, or new competitors whose market your retailer wants.).
