LEAP to Wellness Program
What is a wellness program?
Wellness programs are usually offered through the
workplace and are intended to improve and promote health and fitness. Employers
will often encourage employee participation by offering discounts, cash
rewards, gym memberships, and other incentives. Examples of wellness programs
often encompass weight loss programs, diabetes management, or preventative
health screenings. At Hoops Inc. the morale and productivity of employees have
been impacted as a result of the pandemic and the HR Team has decided to pitch
a Wellness Program to the HR Senior Executive, in order to promote employee health
and wellness, reduce stress levels, and create a fun competition for employees.
The Wellness Program will also aim to save the organization money by improving
the health of a company’s workforce, by teaching employees to prioritize their
physical and mental well-being. This means that if employees are receiving
medical care less frequently, it will save them and the organization money in
healthcare expenses.
DIRECT COST
Like any program or
incentive implemented in a company, the cost of employee care has a wide range.
For example, the average cost of wellness programs per employee per year is anywhere from $150 to $2,000,
according to some studies. The average cost of a wellness program was
$762 per employee in 2019 (indeed, 2021).
The corporate wellness pricing models will vary by vendor, so for Hoops,
we are going to look for a discount based on the size of our company. Or it may
mean prioritizing our flexibility and adaptability. Based on our research, the wide range of
corporate wellness pricing models comes with a wide range in results.
Ultimately, the right price will meet the unique needs of our staff today, and
grow with us if proven valuable.
Our proposal is to
introduce a 3rd party organization that can power a Wellness Dashboard for
employees to access the following wellness perks:
●
Employees to complete wellness profile
●
Nutrition classes (Lunch and learn)
●
Enter dates of Primary Physician visit for a
wellness check
●
Preventative: chronic disease, complete 3 calls
with a coach, health screenings, eye screening, and dental screenings
●
Meditation/mindfulness/stress management
●
Financial wellbeing
The yearly fee to maintain
the portal is $14,000 ($70 per employee). The portal will be administered by
our current HR Specialist, so the company will save money on indirect costs.
What’s in it for Hoops Inc. Employees?
In addition to achieving
your well-being goals, employees can earn incentives in the form of points for
participating in the above activities. These points will be converted into money
value at the end of the fiscal year.

Importance of Wellness Programs
In recent years the push
for employee health incentives or gym memberships has continued to increase. A
study by SHRM found that 52 percent of workers said they had more energy to be
more productive at work by participating in a wellness program (Cashort, 2020).
Not only do wellness
programs boost productivity, but it can also influence healthcare costs.
Wellness programs aim to work as a preventative measure for avoiding illness,
while improving or maintaining an employee’s general health. The healthier
employees are, the less days they tend to miss due to illness, as well as
reducing their risk for chronic disease or conditions.

Care coordination is the process of providing a smooth and seamless transition of care as part of the health continuum. Nurses must be aware of community resources, ethical considerations, policy issues, cultural norms, safety, and the physiological needs of patients. Nurses play a key role in providing the necessary knowledge and communication to ensure seamless transitions of care. They draw upon evidence-based practices to promote health and disease prevention to create a safe environment conducive to improving and maintaining the health of individuals, families, or aggregates within a community. When provided with a plan and the resources to achieve and maintain optimal health, patients benefit from a safe environment conducive to healing and a better quality of life.
This assessment provides an opportunity to research the literature and apply evidence to support what communication, teaching, and learning best practices are needed for a hypothetical patient with a selected health care problem.
In this assessment, you will evaluate the preliminary care coordination plan you developed in Assessment 1 using best practices found in the literature.
To prepare for your assessment, you will research the literature on your selected health care problem. You will describe the priorities that a care coordinator would establish when discussing the plan with a patient and family members. You will identify changes to the plan based upon EBP and discuss how the plan includes elements of Healthy People 2030
Build on the preliminary plan document you created in Assessment 1. Your final plan should be a scholarly APA-formatted paper, 5-7 pages in length, not including title page and reference list.
Supporting Evidence
Support your care coordination plan with peer-reviewed articles, course study resources, and Healthy People 2030 resources. Cite at least three credible sources.
The requirements, outlined below, correspond to the grading criteria in the Final Care Coordination Plan Scoring Guide, so be sure to address each point. Read the performance-level descriptions for each criterion to see how your work will be assessed.
Design patient-centered health interventions and timelines for a selected health care problem.
Address three health care issues.
Design an intervention for each health issue.
Identify three community resources for each health intervention.
Consider ethical decisions in designing patient-centered health interventions.
Consider the practical effects of specific decisions.
Include the ethical questions that generate uncertainty about the decisions you have made.
Identify relevant health policy implications for the coordination and continuum of care.
Cite specific health policy provisions.
Describe priorities that a care coordinator would establish when discussing the plan with a patient and family member, making changes based upon evidence-based practice.
Clearly explain the need for changes to the plan.
Use the literature on evaluation as a guide to compare learning session content with best practices, including how to align teaching sessions to the Healthy People 2030 document.

Gender and Work Life
Think critically and deeply about the readings considering at least the following questions: What are the authors saying? Talk about how YOU believe the information you read has an effect on how people are encouraged to choose a certain occupation. How does gender impact vocational development according to their theory? What do you think about their ideas? How do their ideas impact you and your identity?
Think from the perspective of a female, Asian, psychology major, who wants to be a therapist, and neuroscientist. The danger, the risk, and discrimination that may lie ahead for me and others. (Creatively imagine).

Stonyfield yogurt – sustainability business case
Course Objectives:
CO2: Assess the main motivations for engagement in sustainable business practices.
CO7: Compare the relationship between technology and innovation in sustainable business.
CO8: Develop a plan to address the political, regulatory, or technological environments that impact organizations’ supply chain sustainability and strategies.
Prompt: Review the case entitled “Chapter 13 Case: Strategic Mission-Driven Sustainable Business: “Stonyfield Yogurt” ” in the Sustainable Business Case Book. Analyze the case responding to the following questions:
List three to five main contributing factors in Stonyfield’s success. Discuss how these factors led to Stonyfield’s success. What, if any, specific aspects of Stonyfield’s contributing factors, sustainability mission, strategies, and approaches have the greatest potential for transferability to other businesses?
Throughout the case there are several examples where a sustainability action has positive and negative implications. Discuss the powdered milk and PLA cup decisions in terms of features and benefits.
Are Gary Hirshberg’s “hard-headed” conclusions little more than moral platitudes or are they really hard-earned, practical, positive (e.g., what is), and normative (e.g., what should be) lessons on how to globally scale sustainable products benefit of the plant, people, and profits? Find two or three examples of how other companies have applied Hirshberg’s conclusions on a global scale to benefit the planet.
Corporations are important elements of the communities in which they operate. As a corporate citizen, an organization should be moved to interact with and contribute to its local, regional, national, and global communities, especially as related to environmental, health, and business issues. Describe Stonyfield’s resulting corporate partnerships. Note operational strategies, tools, or methods used to foster corporate citizenship within the local and extended corporate community.
