This is not a traditional paper, so you will not need an introduction or conclusion. Each
Goal is one paragraph, which means your paper will be five paragraphs long. You will list
the following goals and provide your summary:

Goal 1: Past Goal: Describe a goal you have already accomplished

Goal 2: Academic Goal: Describe one academic goal you have

Goal 3: Academic Goal: Describe a second academic goal

Goal 4: Describe a life or career goal you have

Goal 5: Describe a second life or career goal

Audience:
I will be your audience for this paper.

Additional Information:
• Your paper must use MLA formatting. A Header is needed, twelve-point, Times New
Roman Font, and Double-spacing are an important part of MLA formatting.

• The Paper should still include a heading (information in the left-hand corner including:
Your name, Instructor’s name, Class, Date, and Assignment)

Civil Right Movement Veteran – Reaction Paper

Civil Rights Rights Movement

The website Civil Rights Movement Veterans is one of the largest archives on the civil rights movement organized by people who lived through the movement.
Step one: Read the “about us” https://www.crmvet.org/about.htm

The goal is to tell the stories of two women in the movement based on the primary sources that you can find.

Choose one woman from OurStories-https://www.crmvet.org/nars/narshome.htm

Choose one woman from OurThoughts-https://www.crmvet.org/comm/commhome.htm

After learning about two women or girls in depth through the primary sources, students will turn the primary source into a story about the woman or girl. Using the first person is fine, but not required.

Start a slide and use one slide per person to tell their stories to the extent you have gathered information from the database. Please use citations, ie link as needed.

500 Words
To complete the reaction paper for this assignment:
– Complete your analysis of two women’s lives, developing one full paragraph on each woman that provides a snap shot into their lives drawn primarily from the primary source we looked at in class.
– What unanswered questions remain after analyzing this primary source? How could you use research skills to delve deeper?
– How did this assignment shape your perception of this topic?

Dealing with an Omni Channel World

Essay 4: Dealing with An Omni-Channel World.
The 1990s were marked by a back-office revolution in efficiency, systems and re-engineering. As
we transition into the 21st century, the key revolution is the front-office interface with customers.
It is no longer a simple mix of brick-and-mortar integration, or even “bricks and clicks” integration.
Rather, with the advance of social media, mobile media, always-on communications, the Internet
of Things and multi-channel markets, the new catchphrase is “omni-channel.” What do we know
about this world? Is it truly different than multi-channel? How might solving the last mile”
problem change the game in traditional industries such as consumer packaged goods and who is
going to do this? Amazon? Do the traditional theories and approaches work in such an omni-
channel world? What new capabilities do firms need to put in place to take advantage of this world?
How do I figure out how and where my customers and prospective customers want to buy from
me?

The fundamental problem is not the maximization of a particular channel, but the interfaces that
link between channels. Think of these as drop offs and hand-offs between channels. Where do we
see the drop off occur? Is there a standard pattern across industries?
What is the right mix of customer interfaces?
Keep in mind that many of the interfaces are no longer under the firm’s control (e.g., Yelp), so
how can we stay in front of these messages. Can we shape the debate?
How does this work across countries?
In many cases, the technology in developing countries, or the political infrastructure, are at odds
with integration in a world economy. How does the political, economic and social context shape
the ability to integrate a global company?
How do I organize to coordinate across channels?
The fundamental problem in most cases is the way the company organizes, rewards and manages
profit and loss groups. A particular activity may be in the best interest of the overall firm, but not
in the best interest of a particular business unit or group. How does the firm reward the unit that
appears to be losing out?
What are the implications for in-store sales personnel?
How enables and accountable do they need to be in terms of awareness, knowledge and access
across chancels? Put simply, do in-store personnel need to be experts on mobile, websites, call
centers and other touchpoints that the firm is using to reach out to customers?
How do I develop an omni-channel strategy for my brand?
Are there general rules of thumb, or is every firm different? What is best practice, what is worst
practice and what is next practice? What are the implications of omni-channel for selecting channel
Dartners
How is omni-channel changing B-to-B markets?
Are there unique challenges in the B-to-B world that we do not see in the B-to-C world?

The assignment is to examine two sides of an ethical issue following the structure below. Keep the paragraphs fairly tight—none of them should run much longer than half a page.

Introduction and thesis [1 paragraph]:
Describe what the ethical issue is. Say why it matters and/or illustrate the issue with a few key facts or descriptions (the point is to “hook” your reader). End the paragraph with a clear thesis statement, giving your stance on this ethical issue.
Support for your position [2 paragraphs]:
Name two strong reasons in support of your ethical position. Each paragraph should lead with one reason.
Then, in the rest of the paragraph, support that line of thinking with reasoned statements.
At least one of your two reasons should be a principled ethical reason in which you reference one of the three ethical theories (consequentialism, deontology, virtue ethics).
If either reason involves a factual statement or data, then cite this information, keeping in mind that you should use a reputable source and give the full bibliographic information.
Considering the other side [2 paragraphs]
What another view on this ethical issue holds. Summarize its case [1 paragraph]
What would be a rational response to defend your position? [1 paragraph]
Learning from the other side [2 paragraphs]
However, what can you identify as correct and/or helpful about that other side?
Based on these expanded insights, come up with one or more constructive ideas for approaching this ethical issue that might get beyond the limits of a pro/con divide (as in Weston’s approach in chapter 4).
Conclusion [Use the last few sentences of your 4b paragraph to wrap on a high note]
References
List any resources that you quoted or relied upon. You don’t need to cite my lectures or PowerPoint, but you can use and quote them.
Thank any people who helped you. (You are to work and write independently on this project, but if you had brainstorming conversations or received editing feedback on a draft, that is fine—but please acknowledge these people.)

The paper will be graded by three criteria, each weighing roughly equally:
Accuracy
You address all the elements required, clearly and accurately. Your ethical view and the other view are explained effectively. An ethical theory is accurately used.
Thoughtfulness
You support your position effectively. You fairly state the other view and respond reasonably. You identify strengths on the other side, based on which you develop one constructive idea.
Clarity
Your writing is clear and accurate, free of major or continual errors. The paper is easy to read.

Non-Western Religious Art

Like much of the work we have viewed from the Western hemisphere in this course, the visual art works we examine in our Non-Western chapters embody religious and spiritual beliefs held by the artists who created them, as well as by the primary audiences they were created for.
One of the reasons religious art is interesting is that, like all works of visual art, it makes “visible” an “invisible” belief. Christian art relies on a set of symbols and familiar images – called an iconography – that even if we are not Christians ourselves we are somewhat familiar with, because Christianity is one of the dominant religions of the Western world. Art of the Hindu faith, on the other hand, may feel truly exotic and foreign to our eyes as we are not as familiar with the iconography of the religion.
For your written assignment this week, please choose one piece of religious art from the readings and investigate its iconography.
In your writing, be sure to address the following questions:
-What religious belief system does the work belong to?
-What is represented in the work? If there is a figure, who is the figure? What are the symbols used?
-What are the formal qualities of this work that the artist uses to communicate their message?
-How are these formal qualities different than a work of Western religious art? In what ways?
The last two questions are the most critical for this assignment, and will require careful thought. Not only are the symbols and depictions foreign in these works, so are the formal methods by which spirituality is depicted.

Instructions: Your final project will be based on Assignment 5, “Geographic Correlation Analysis” and Assignment 6,
“Creating A Story Map in ArcGIS Online”.
The data you will use for you final project will come from two ArcGIS Online sources used in Assignment 5:
1. Minn 2016 CDC Chronic Disease Indicators
2. Minn 2017 American Community Survey States
From the CDC you will pick one of the following chronic diseases for your Dependent Variable (topic):
Disease Name (field name to use)
A. Asthma (Asthma Mortality per 1MM)
B. Coronary Disease (Coronary Mortality per 100K)
C. Heart Failure (Heart Fail Mortality per 100K)
D. Kidney Mortality (Kidney Mortality per 100K)
E. Liver Disease (Chronic_liver_disease_mortality)
F. COPD (COPD Mortality per 100K)
G. Diabetes (Diabetes Mortality per 100K)
From the ACS data you will use “Median Household Income” as your Independent Variable.
For this week’s assignment, you will create a plan for your final ArcGIS Online Story Map showing your understanding of the
many topics we learned in class this semester. This will only be a template for your final project, you do not have to complete
your entire final project now. Only the items in BLUE will be required as part of your project plan. All other entries should
be shown as a blank ‘section’ in your Story Map. However, you will not need to fully complete them yet.
Your draft Story Map should include at least one section, along with dynamic maps, graphics, charts, or other content, for
each of the following:
• Title Section – Complete this slide with your project title. It should contain some wording about ‘geo-spatial
analysis’, or ‘Where’, or ‘Location’. Your title section should be a creative presentation of photos, graphics, and
typefonts. Include your name, the course name, and a date. Total Points for this Section: (2)
• Geospatial Question Section– Which questions are you seeking to answer about the location of your spatial features?
What is the spatial relationship between your input layers? Examples:
• Is there a geospatial correlation between poverty and crime?
• What is the cancer incident rate for all counties within a 25-mile radius of the natural-gas power plant in the US?
• What countries would be most economically affected by Britain leaving the European Union?
You may include more than 1 geospatial question. However, for each one, you should create a separate map as
described below that shows your attempts to answer each question. Total Points for this Section: (2)
• Study Area Section – This will be the United States. You will include a Reference Map of the US for this section. An
entry for this section should be included in your side panel now but it does NOT have to be completed as part of this
project plan. Later, you will fill in this section with more details (text) of your dependent variable you chose and its
affects on the US for your final project.
• Literature Review (Background Information) – Provide some preliminary data sources (web-based or traditional
books or media). This will be just a short list of sources that you could use to provide some background information.
You will add more as part of your final project. You must use at least two reference sources and cite them in this
section. Proper citation is required in this section for both of (or all of ) your reference sources. Total Points for this
Section: (2)
• Methods and Data Section – You should write a few preliminary thoughts about how you intend to create your maps
and analysis. This will be a draft and you’ll be able to update this as you complete your final project. Consider using
one or more of these suggested steps:
o Enrich Layer – Combine your state data with a separate data source in order to gain key insights about the
relationship between the two. Example: Children under Age 14 and poverty at the census block level.
o Use sample data – Show a table of sampled data that could be joined to a spatial layer of states or counties.
Draw the results as a choropleth or with a ‘classified’ symbology based on your sample data.
o Use Geospatial Correlation – Perform the steps learned in the Week 6 Assignment to create some correlation
results of your own (use the ‘Join’ tool to combine layers into a single table with two fields that can be plotted
on a scatter chart). Draw the map, but also include your scatter plot, along with an R-value, and provide a
caption about any positive or negative correlation between your independent and dependent variables.
o Use the ‘Hot Spot’ tool – Create a new feature layer containing the Getis-Ord Gi* statistic. Compare
demographic information for both a hot spot and cold spot. You could also use Google Street View to
produce some qualitative observations about your hot and cold spots.
o Note: These are just a few of the skills that we learned in class this semester. You are NOT limited to
these! Explore more of the tools available to you from the ‘Perform Analysis’ button in ArcGIS Online.
Total Points for this Section: (3)
• Advanced Maps: Dependent Variable Map and Independent Variable Map– This map will be a bit more graphically
complex and should be produced with some of the analysis tools found in ArcGIS Online. An entry for this section
should be included in your side panel but it does NOT have to be completed as part of your project plan. Eventually,
you will fill in the details for your final project.
• Analysis of Data: Scatter Plot– What conclusions can you draw from your geospatial analysis? An entry for this
section should be included in your side panel but it does NOT have to be completed as part of your project plan.
Eventually, you will fill in the details for your final project.
• Limitations – What were some of the data gaps or other shortcomings of your analysis? An entry for this section
should be included in your side panel but it does NOT have to be completed as part of your project plan. Eventually,
you will fill in the details for your final project.
• Future Work – An entry for this section should be included in your side panel but it does NOT have to be completed
as part of your project plan. Eventually, you will fill in the details for your final project.
• References (Bibliography) – An entry for this section should be included in your side panel but it does NOT have to be
completed as part of your project plan. List your reference sources in this section. Eventually, you will fill in the details
for your final project.
• Metadata – An entry for this section should be included in your side panel but it does NOT have to be completed as
part of your project plan. Eventually, you will fill in the details for your final project.
Total Points for all other sections being included in your side Panel ( in black above) (1)
Total Points for entire Project Plan (10
