Don’t forget to double-check your MLA format, ensuring that you give credit where it is due to other writers. Consider that misrepresenting someone else’s words as your own work is a bit like intellectual imperialism, invading and stealing someone else’s original intellectual territory. Just one way of reframing academic integrity as an ethical, political choice. Finally, please write at least two drafts before handing it in. You can make your voice much stronger with a little bit of editing and proofreading. Aim for clarity and, ultimately, mastery of your own discourse. You have something important to tell me, and I want to understand it fully.

The research paper uses the acedic sources as a steping stone to make their thesis so please quote the sources as much as possible. The paper does not need to use a lot of big word just make sure the point is explained well.

Instructions:
1. Select one of the texts we will/have read this semester. (Be sure the short story, play, or poem is one from the syllabus for our class.)
2. Conduct research on the text to learn more about the author, era, genre, and the text itself
3. Form a logical and cogent argument about the message of the text, and you must state this argument in a clearly worded thesis statement.
4. You will need to discuss the author, social mores at the time the text was written, and any additional elements you feel necessary to qualify your thesis. You should also discuss the format of the text (fiction, play, drama, poetry) and how the author used this genre to bring his or her text forward. This will include some analysis using the elements of fiction, drama, or poetry.
5. You must analyze the text using one of the critical theories from Chapter 9 (if you need help selecting a theory, please let me know).
6. The research must come from the Pasadena College Library Databases. The research must be documented in the paper in MLA format with parenthetical citations and a fully documented Works Cited page.
7. The research paper is scaffolded; this means you are required to submit a first draft and a final draft. You will get feedback on the first draft; this will help you write a better paper.

What do philosophers mean by mental causation? Carefully present and explain how mental causation raises a problem for contemporary forms of dualism, and how it can be used in an argument in favor of physicalism. Be sure to explain the meaning of any important terms in your argument or discussion. Do you think that the existence of mental causation gives us a strong reason to accept physicalism about the mind (including the phenomenal character of experience)? Why or why not?

You should choose one of the following questions to answer in an essay of 2-3 pages. The paper should be an argument, complete with a thesis, defining terms, and otherwise basically following the conventions of philosophical writing found in your textbook.
