What text most shapes the Creature’s identity or sense of self, and how?
In Volume II of Frankenstein the Creature finds three books that contribute to his education: Milton’s Paradise Lost, Plutarch’s Lives (also sometimes called Parallel Lives), and Goethe’s The Sorrows of Young Werther. Two other books that Shelley references are Volney’s Ruins of Empires (which unfortunately it is difficult to find quality information about), and also implicitly is one written by her mother, Wollstonecraft’s Vindication of the Rights of Woman.
Research one of the books listed above to learn more about it and to learn more about how it shapes the creature’s identity. You can read exerpts (or the whole thing, of course!) from the source you choose, they are all available for free on Gutenberg.org. Use quotations from Frankenstein to support your argument, as well as quotations and paraphrasing from your research sources (primary and secondary). Your paper should be 1000-1300 words long.
You will need 3 outside sources (besides Frankenstein) in your essay. For example, if you decide to read parts of the primary source, then you will need 2 more secondary sources. Once source must be an article from a library database. You will need to enter your library barcode number, located on the back of your BMCC ID card if you are accessing the databases from home.
Again, primary sources are available online at gutenberg.org)
For secondary sources, one source must come from a Library Databases. You can find a full list of English literature databases here: https://bmcc.libguides.com/english. I recommend Literary Reference Center (EBSCO), and JStor. Another one you can use is Literature Resource Center (Gale).
You may be prompted to enter your library barcode number, located on the back of your BMCC ID card.
While you are welcome to consult popular sources for background information, you should CITE only academic sources in the paper. That includes:
The primary sources
Articles found on databases through the library
Articles or websites from museums and libraries (e.g. The British Library, The Library of Congress, The British Museum, etc.)
Articles published on academic websites (.edu)
Other articles that explicitly indicate they have been peer reviewed by scholars (here is a good one, for example: https://romantic-circles.org/editions/frankenstein/V2notes/ruins)

Intimate relationships psych class Final Paper: Popular Media Relationship Representation
Assignment Description
Choose a movie, book, tv series, or documentary that depicts a HEALTHY close relationship between a dyad (not a group).
It should not be a relationship in which you are personally involved (i.e. do not describe a relationship that you have personally had or observed).
The relationship can depict any type of intimate relationship (e.g. the dyad can include friends, romantic partners, family members). Some examples: The Office, Parks and Rec, Modern Family, The Notebook, The Big Lebowski, The Lord of the Rings, “To Wong Foo, With Love, Julie Newmar”, The Addams Family, Friends, Sex and the City, Big Fish, Father of the Bride (try to pick something not on this list!)
Write a paper in which you do the following:
Briefly describe the close relationship
Provide some background so that the reader has a general idea of what kind of relationship is being depicted. Is it an intimate partner relationship? Family relationship? Close friends? Business associates?
Describe one theory or model presented this semester to discuss the close relationship.
You will need to provide a general description of the theory. Then, discuss how it applies to the relationship you have chosen and provide examples.
Some options of theories or models you might discuss: Rusbult’s Investment Model, Attachment Theory, Social Exchange Theory, Self-Expansion Model, Equity Theory, Sternberg’s Triangular Model of Love, and more!
Provide at least three specific examples of intimacy in the relationship
Describe at least three specific intimate acts within the relationship.
Specify and explain the aspect of intimacy being depicted (e.g. responsiveness, mutuality, interdependence, knowledge, trust, commitment, etc).
Provide general definitions for all of the concepts!
Include at least 5 academic sources to provide support for your explanations and citations for definitions.
Respond to the following reflection questions
Do you think the relationship you described is a realistic depiction of intimacy in close relationships? Why or why not?
If not, what are some stereotypes or errors in the portrayal?
If you were to speak briefly with the individual members of the relationship, what knowledge would you share with them that you learned in this course?
Your paper should be typed and double-spaced, with 1-inch margins, and 12 pt Times New Roman font and should be submitted as a pdf or Word doc.
Your paper should be approximately 5-7 pages long, not including the title and reference pages.
Although a great deal of academic writing should be done in the third person, you may choose to write this particular paper in the first person (“I”).
Do NOT use direct quotes! You need to paraphrase all content to demonstrate your comprehension and ability to conceptually interpret readings and findings.
APA formatting
The following APA requirements need to be upheld

Religion: Ordinary or Extraordinary Care Case Study – Scholarly Written Assignment
Mrs. Jansen is a Roman Catholic Christian 58-year-old schoolteacher. Six weeks ago, she suffered a stroke that left her with severe deficits. Her doctor told her family that due to her injury, she will be unable to walk on her own, feed herself, or be independent from full assistance for the remainder of her life. She remains in the hospital and has not communicated with her family in any way since the stroke. She is breathing on her own but will most likely experience unpredictable bouts of respiratory distress for the rest of her life, requiring future mechanical ventilation. She is receiving nutrients through a feeding tube, which was surgically inserted in her stomach.
Her husband wants the doctor to remove the feeding tube and permit the effects of the stroke to take their natural course. He is sure that this is what his wife would want, especially considering the grim diagnosis. He knows this not only from what she has told him in the past but also because of her free and independent character. He believes that she would not want to live like this. The doctor is not comfortable removing the feeding tube because she believes it to be necessary to sustain life.
Questions to consider in the case study:
What can you find in the teaching of the Catholic Church to help inform the patient’s caregivers so that they can decide on a course of action?
Do you think the husband’s request is reasonable? What do you think about the doctor’s response? Can the feeding tube can be removed, and the sanctity of the patient’s life still be recognized?
What course of action should be taken? If you were the husband how would you proceed?
