Content Requirements: (worth 25 points)
Students will go in depth into 5 issues related to their chosen public health image. Students should give appropriate discussion to each issue as they are each graded individually (5 points each). I recommend each of these issues be described in one or more paragraphs. Using the following format:
Paragraph 1: Introduce the reader to your chosen public health issue and describe how the example applies to disease prevention. For example, what diseases or health issues (such as injuries) are prevented. I recommend using specific examples here.
Paragraph 2: Describe how the example applies to health promotion. How does this example help to assure that the population can engage in good health and well-being to promote quality and quantity of life. Remember that we need this to be separate from disease prevention.
Paragraph 3: Identify the population most affected by the example. This could include different ages, races, sex/gender, etc. Why is this population most affected? Providing examples here is encouraged.
Paragraph 4: Analyze benefits and barriers to using this public health example among the population most affected. Don’t forget to describe both positive and negative examples as they apply to your topic. Remember, nothing is perfect!
If you are struggling, here is an example based on the teeth brushing example provided: A benefit of teeth brushing is that it is a way to promote oral health and reduce poor health outcomes. It is relatively inexpensive and most people have access to a toothbrush, toothpaste, and clean water. Despite the easy access, there still may be barriers for low income populations. It may be less important to purchase oral hygiene products than food and shelter. Also, people may not know that toothbrushes should be replaced every 3 months and that you should brush for 2 minutes at least twice a day in addition to flossing. I think a challenge is a lack of education for populations most in need. By increasing education and resources, we can….
Paragraph 5: Develop a unique recommendation for how the public health example could be improved. Remember, we want to think about the problems that you identified in the previous paragraph and think about how you can make improvements. The goal is to be concrete here and develop this idea. You do not need references for this section as it is your chance to be creative.

To investigate the difference in preference of home grown foods and store bought food
I will provide a proposal for this paper to be used as a guideline (the final paper doesnt have to mirror what the proposal says, but should be a strong basis for it), however, the final paper must also include fitting references to Robert Paalberg’s “Attention Whole Foods Shoppers” (https://foreignpolicy.com/2010/04/26/attention-whole-foods-shoppers/)–this cannot be included in the 4 scholarly peer-reviewed sources, those are separate (that said, the two studies in my proposal can be used). Quoting my proposal, the “paper will focus on individuals’ habits and preferences in acquiring food on a basis of cost effectiveness, accessibility, personal satisfaction, and ecological impact—the goal of which being discovering appeal in personal involvement in food production and preparation”. That is quite broad, and may demand more than 1975 words, so, focus on cost effectiveness, accessibility, and ecological impact.

Own Your Behaviours, Master Your Communication, Determine Your Success- a TEDx Talk with Louise Evans
This speech is a call to action. We spend about eighty percent of our day at work, the rest is at home. If we have a bad day at work we are likely to take that negativity home with us and vice versa. It is of paramount importance that we create healthy environments in the spaces that most affect our lives by giving of our best and receiving the like in return. The 5 Chairs is a powerful and systematic method which helps us master our own behaviours and manage the behaviours of others. Use the attached link and watch the video, then write and submit a reflection answering the following: Which “chair” do you sit in most regularly? Which “chair” would you like to sit in more? What impressed you most about this TEDx Talk?
