They just don’t make Jews like Jesus anymore. It is impossible to understand the teachings of Jesus without understanding that he was Jewish. Watch the documentary, From Jesus to Christ along with reading your text to help with answering the following questions.
What about Jesus’ teachings reflect his Jewish upbringing and what aspects of his teachings break with the traditional Jewish belief system? Outline some of the specific Jewish practices that Christianity still today shares with Judaism as a reflection of Jesus’ experience. Needs to be a 8 page essay that compares a modern event that has happened or is happening to Nazi Germany. For example you could compare Asian hate to the hate Jews received. Work needs to be cited and sources must be added to the last page of the paper. The last page should consist of only the sources used. I’d say a minimum of 4 sources cited should be enough.

sexism is manifested in magazines through the unrealistic portrayal of men and women. Men are often portrayed as “supermen” who are physically strong, brave, and powerful. Women, on the other hand, are portrayed as perpetually beautiful, perfectly shaped, young, sex objects. Our self-image, what we want, and what we need are influenced by advertisements.

Your assignment is to locate at least 3 print or web advertisements in different genres of as possible (a variety of topics such as: sports, news, women’s, men’s, trade, hobby). Finally answer the following questions in essay format for each advertisement:

Is the major character in the ad female, male, or are both included?
What product is the ad selling?
Who is the target audience?
What activity is illustrated in the ad?
Is either gender involved in some activity? What type?
What are the individuals in the ad wearing?
Are the individuals portrayed in the ad given an active or passive role? (By active I mean are they “actively” engaged in an activity of importance, by “passive” I mean is their presence in the ad irrelevant or insignificant to the purpose of the message being given.)
What is the message of the ad?
In the illustrations, are there main characters in a story? If so, who is taking an active role, a passive role? Who is portrayed as a problem solver or a decision maker?
List the different occupations portrayed for females and males. Are they stereotyped?

Based on your findings you will write an essay summarizing the results. As you write your paper, please consider, whether you feel the characteristics you noticed are realistic or stereotypical?

Problem: College Students and Hunger
Many college students experience food insecurity, much more so than in 20 or 30 years ago. In
fact, some studies indicate that as many as half of all college students struggle to put food on
the table. Why is that? What has changed in the last few decades that made it so difficult for
students to feed themselves? You could also consider the effects of food insecurity on college
students. For example, you might find that hungry college students are much less likely to
complete a degree or get good grades. For an overview of the problem, take a look at the

you will write a short, critical essay based on scenes one through six
of A Streetcar Named Desire. So far in the play, relationships, particularly in regards to gender
dynamics, guide the conflict or dramatic action. Blanche, Stanley and Stella model or challenge
traditional and sometimes toxic examples of gender, in order to manipulate outcomes in their
relationships. Likewise, when Blanche and Stella deviate from stereotypical and idealized notions of
femininity, it creates tension with the fragile displays of masculinity by Stanley and Mitch.
In at least three (3) full pages, discuss the significance of gender in scenes one through six.
As you develop your response, consider these questions: (1) How does Stanley model masculinity or
manhood? (2) In what ways is dependence associated with womanhood? (3) What tensions develop
when Blanche and Stella exhibit traditionally, masculine behavior? (4) Which displays of gender
seem toxic throughout the play? (5) Do characters perform or rebel against gender roles?
Throughout your paper, reference specific scenes and dialogue from the play to support your
arguments. Since this is a short essay, block quotes or quotes exceeding three lines, are not
permitted. Quotes should not overwhelm the essay—focus your writing on developing arguments
about the play, instead of quoting from it.
