The Informative Synthesis asks you to build on your Critique
by teaching your reader something related to your topic in that previous paper.
You will need to research some aspect of your topic to provide your reader with
accurate, well-presented information. Your ultimate goal is to produce readers
that not only know how to do a task in your topic, but why and how that task is
important—to understand the decisions that they are making. Developing a project may require you to focus in on one aspect
of your previous topic or thinking about the broader context. Either way, you
will need to use the library resources to research your topic that supports
your goal of producing well-informed readers. You will need to assess the
quality of your sources and establish a variety to offer a comprehensive
overview of your topic.
Because you will be pulling from a variety of sources, you
will need to synthesize that information for your reader. You will need to
identify necessary components of your essay and use your sources to support
your purpose.

AFRICAN AMERICAN LITERATURE & INVISIBLE MAN* In this paper, you will analyze how Ralph Ellison “signifies on” two other writers in his novel, Invisible Man.

To compelete this paper successfully its better to have read Invisible Man written by Ralph Ellison “Signifying” Paper: We will learn in this course that “signifying” is a specific rhetorical device in African American culture. It can refer to a savvy form of insult, verbal jousting, or even a process whereby one author makes playful references to another author. In this paper, you will analyze how Ralph Ellison “signifies on” two other writers in his novel, Invisible Man. To complete this paper in a satisfactory way, you must read the entire novel, and your paper must address MORE THAN one chapter or episode to the novel. Your paper should have a clear thesis that explains what Ellison gets out of signifying on these authors and how it affects your reading of Invisible Man. As always, we sure to use quotations and other relevant details from all the texts you discuss.
This paper has a research component. Find at least two sources that either help you shed light on Ellison’s work or any of the other texts you discuss in the paper. The research component should make up a small percentage of your paper; most of the connections made in the paper should be your own observations. Minimum word length: 1,500 words.

SOME EXAMPLES OF WRITERS ELLSION COULD HAVE BEEN SIGNIFYING ON INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Booker T Washington
Zora Neal Hurston
Frederick Douglas
Charles Chestnutt
Harriet Jacobs

I do have some short stories of african american literature such as The Life of Equiano available to send if needed.

Comparing the survivorship of B. rapa in low and high populations

We have been doing an experiment examining the effects of intraspecific competition on various measures of fitness in the plant Brassica rapa. We used a variety that has been selected for its fast growth so that we can study it in the lab over a short period of time.
Recall that each group planted a single replicate of each of the three treatments (low density of seeds (2), medium density of seeds (5), and high density of seeds (10). In reality, you cannot do a statistical analysis to look for significant differences between the treatments with just one replicate, so we will be analyzing the data for ALL the groups of students across ALL the lab sections of this class.
This week in lab, your IA will walk you all through how we will, as a class, analyze this plant competition experiment data (using ANOVA, which is introduced in the video below). You are free to use the data file to do these analyses and create your own figures if you have more advanced skills in statistics. However, your IA during labs this week will provide you with the information that you will need to write the Results section of your Plant Competition Paper that you have been working on (recall you have written the Introduction, Methods and Literature Cited sections already, and have received feedback on those parts of the Scientific Paper from your IA).
The Results section forms the basis for you to draw conclusions, and write the Discussion of the paper, and relate your findings back to your research hypotheses that are stated in the Introduction, as well as to the broader context of the importance of competition in plant ecology and evolution.
Once you have these written, then you will put the paper together complete with the Title page and Abstract, as discussed earlier when we went over the APA style for submitting student papers: the organization of your scientific paper is: Title page, Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Literature Cited (References), Figures/Figure Legends
