The format of your book report should exhibit
professional writing. Submit this assignment in Canvas as a Microsoft Word
document only. Grammar and spelling are important and will be graded. If you
cut and paste direct quotes from a source it must be cited. At a minimum you
should turn in 3 double spaced pages with no more than one-inch margins using
no larger than 12 fonts. A longer paper is fine as well. Your file naming

There should be three distinct,
titled, and separated section headings in your written report. Note the example
which clearly shows 3 sections, separated, and titled. Your report must use this
3-section format.
Summary
– Section 1 – No more than 1/3 of the report is the summary of the book
that was read. Please note that if your report is 6 total pages, about 2 pages should
be the summary. Papers with more than 1/3 summary will not do as well as those
that follow the guideline. If too much of your report is the summary, you will lose
points.

Leadership – Section 2 – This is the focus of the assignment. 1/3 or more of the paper must
be this section. This section will identify leadership skills and traits the
book illustrated as effective leadership. These could be any identified in the book
and does not have to match those we studied in the module on leadership. How
did the book teach what leaders to lead effectively? For maximum points, you
should describe 4 different leadership traits/skills and provide an example of
each from the book if you want the best grade. As the foundation of this
exercise, the more detailed the description of the trait or skill and the example,
the better your grade. See the rubric for more grading information.
Every paper should strive to
have at least 3 leadership traits and examples. Each example will be a separate
paragraph in section 2. If you have 4 examples you would have at least 4 paragraphs
in section 2. You should be looking for leadership examples as you read. Leadership
examples poorly thought out or poorly supported with examples from the book in
the paper just to hit a certain number of examples can work against you. Think
about this as you read. We are not looking for your opinion but what the book taught
and provided examples on for better leadership.
Conclusion – Section 3 – The final section will be a conclusion and critique of the book.
Every conclusion section should be 3 paragraphs, At a minimum it must address
the following 3 things, and each must be a separate paragraph in the section:
1. Discuss one point that you disagree with and why you disagreed
with it? Please do not say I could not find anything I disagreed with.
2. What was the single most important point you learned from reading
the book and why? This means you must choose one and explain why you choose it.
3. Would you recommend the book to someone else? Why or why not? This
is not a yes or no answer. Each of the 3 points above must be a separate
paragraph in section 3.

There are three objectives to this individual project. First, it will give you an opportunity to sink more deeply into a particular OB topic so you come away with a more expert understanding of it. Two, it will give you an appreciation for the research that lays behind the knowledge we share in this course. Third, it will give you confidence to look up primary research to find answers to organizational problems and apply those findings to improve organizational practice.
FINDING A CONCEPT
You will likely find it easier to focus on a specific concept in the textbook. If it’s too broad you may find this task overwhelming. For example, you may want to focus on personality traits or perceptual biases, but you would benefit from choosing one concept within, such as ‘openness to experience’ or ‘fundamental attribution error’. You may want to peruse the textbook chapters and find a particular concept that sounds like something worth learning more about. Ultimately, your goal is to find something very specific to focus on and summarize some of the research about it in more depth.
Here are some tips that may help you get started, but you are welcome to use a different approach:
· Consider the endnotes in the section of the textbook where your concept is mentioned. For example, in Chapter 4 (4th edition), the paragraphs that describe “Openness to Experience” include endnotes 43-47. These endnotes point to the published studies covering that concept in the back of the book.
· Look up the original journal publications noted in the textbook. Follow the guidance provided by our librarian.
· Often if you find one more current publication that covered the concept, you will see they mention other publications that you can also look up.
· You can also use library indices to look up other studies relevant to the concept. Again refer to our librarian’s guidance on this.

· Of course, these are merely suggested steps to get you started. You could skip the endnotes altogether, but given the textbook authors used them as a foundation, it is likely they offer some extremely useful groundwork for your investigation.
· Have fun. Curiosity is the basis of learning. And digging around for information on something that fascinates us is fulfilling.
USING JOURNAL ARTICLES
It is not easy to read journal articles and fortunately you do not have to read them in the traditional sense. Here though are some tips that will help you use them for your paper:
· Read the abstract which will be a summary of what the article found.
· Look at the introduction to get the gist of what the study is about: usually they start with an overview of things we already know about a topic, and then quickly they tell you what their study is going to focus on (that is unique yet related to what we already know). Introductions are also a great place to find reference to other studies that are looking at the same thing so you may find them useful for your paper.
· Skim some pages to find a visual model or look at the hypotheses they wrote out. That tells you some of the relationships they are going to look at.
· Skip over the sections entitled Methods and Results which may be the most difficult to discern (though you are certainly welcome to look at them if looking for something specific).
· Go to the Discussion where you will find they summarize what they found and also discuss why it matters. In the discussion you will also get some good ideas for why their findings are relevant to managers.

First off, thank you for writing my paper, I’m not sure if you know what Aice classes are but basically, I need a research paper for my Aice Global perspective class. It needs to be 2,000 words maximum not including the sources, and it needs to be based on a debatable topic (which is the assignment topic I’ve already provided), with both local and global examples. It needs to look professional but also pass for as if a Senior wrote it. I have the recommended structure and a Peer review of what it should look like, as well as what is expected of the paper.
