The Middle East Research Paper

The Research Paper
Choose a topic that presents an issue or a problem–cultural, political, or historical–, and then from that issue or problem formulate a thesis statement, i.e., a proposition that you must defend against potential objections. Your thesis statement will constitute the skeleton around which you will build your paper. Your research might have its starting-point in some of the reading required for this course, to be augmented by at least five book sources from the DuPont-Ball Library or some seven to ten articles from “academic journals,” or any combination thereof. And, you might also supplement these sources with articles from the popular news weeklies and newspapers if pertinent. Sources from valid Internet sites are also appropriate, but no informational websites.
The objective of your paper will be to prove the validity of your thesis statement by presenting your evidence in support of the thesis. The paper must be well organized, with a clearly defined introduction, body, and conclusion, and it must be complete with title page, footnotes or endnotes, and bibliography. Footnotes, or endnotes, must be used to identify all sources used for information that is not commonly found or for opinions or ideas that are not your own, in addition to identifying quotations. Use direct quotations very sparingly in your paper—-no more than 2 or 3. The text of the paper should be about 12 pages in length, if not longer; and the paper must be well written, well argued, and typed (double-spaced, with one-inch margins, and 12-point font).
Before you begin to write your paper, please submit a copy of your thesis statement to me.
For your research paper, you must footnote all specialized facts, quotations, and the ideas of others.

Research Paper English Composition

Research Paper Topic
(150 points possible + 50 outline + 50 points for the Annotated Bibliography)
The paper must be 7-10 pages in length. It will be in MLA format with at least 6 appropriate resources.
This paper and all of its parts must be complete on time for any student to pass English 1A as per the requirements listed on the syllabus. There are no revisions allowed.
Your paper must contain all of the elements of a well-written academic paper with regard to mechanics, grammar, format and content.
Your paper must go beyond a “what I know about” paper and consist primarily of an argumentation paper.
Neil Postman asks the following questions in Amusing Ourselves To DEATH,
What is information? Or, more precisely what are information? […] What is the relation between information and reason? What is the kind of information that best facilitates thinking? Is there a moral bias to each information form? […] How do different forms dictate the type of content that is expressed?” (160).
Write the epilogue for Postman’s text. It has been 26 years since he wrote his book. Expand upon his central claim of a flawed television based epistemology. Using one or two examples from the current media, analyze the current state of modern American media. Have Postman’s predictions have come true or not?
Present a theory of your own based on your observations. (using the guiding questions above.)
Analysis of at least two of Postman’s themes from the text,
Current topical examples from the modern media,
Current theory of the epistemology of modern media.
If you write a paper that is mostly descriptive (what, where, when), or fail to cite current examples, you will not pass.
This paper must
Examine and analyze the modern media (newspapers, television and internet),
Use the theories of Neil Postman as its epistemological baseline,
And identify possible future issues with modern media insomuch as to provide a clear epistemology for the future American media.
Reminder: Plagiarism is when you accidentally or deliberately borrow someone’s words or ideas and present them as your own. You will receive a no-pass grade (zero) on this assignment if you are found using text which you do not cite properly in either quoted or paraphrased form.
Tip: Complete Lab # 5 and #6 prior to doing the Research Outline and Annotated Bibliography. These help to establish your direction.

Nuclear, Biological, Chemical, Radiation, Toxin: Threat of Selected Agent (United States)

Please see the attached for readings and expectations and rubric:

Having read the material for weeks seven and eight as indicated in the Course Syllabus, along with the respective Weekly Course Lessons and the Weekly Course Announcement, research and select a Nuclear, a Chemical, a Biological, or a Radiological agent or a Toxin of specific interest to you and provide a clear, detailed and overarching examination of your selection that demonstrates your scholarly understanding of the threat posed to the U.S. by the selected agent. This means be specific in your choice! Simply saying “I choose bioweapons,” and then discussing that whole class of weapons, is not specific enough
At a minimum you are to discus and expound upon the following in the form of a clear, organized and cohesive narrative:
State the name of the agent and describe its historical development. Cite one case where the agent has been used.
Describe the physical/chemical/biological properties of the agent.
Discuss the harmful impact of the agent – identify its mechanism of action – how does it do damage?
Discuss the protective equipment that should be employed by first responders in contending with the selected agent (do not just generically say “PPE” – be specific), as well as clearly indicate (supported by your own research) commercially available detection devices (a minimum of two) that could be used to detect the agent by Consequence Management responding agencies.
List any treaty/policies covering the agent and/or prohibiting or controlling its availability or use.
Research and investigation beyond those materials indicated in the course-ware will be required.
Your assignment must be properly formatted and cited using the most recent edition of the APA manual.
Your assignment must be a minimum of 5 FULL substantive pages (double spaced), not counting cover page and reference page material (both of which are required). Your writing can be longer, but it cannot be under the minimum indicated page count for credit.
Do not simply list questions and respond – your work is intended to be a complete, integrative narrative that embodies an introduction, a body within which you respond to the targeted questions, and a summary and conclusion.

Persuasive argument “The appeal” David walker

In five paragraphs write a persuasive paper on “The Appeal,” by David Walker. Include in your paper a thesis statement. Highlight your thesis statement in bold. Discuss whether Walker is compelling. How does he craft his argument? Use the two assignments one Walker to write your paper. In a sixth paragraph compare and contrast the biblical worldview of Walker and the slave owner. All papers should be double spaced in 12 point Times New Roman font.

Development and History in Aviation

Choose a historical person, aircraft or significant development and discuss the roles and major impacts that this has played in aviation development since the 1920’s (you may choose any date from 1920 to yesterday).

Specifically:

1. Explain why this person, aircraft or significant development has had significant impact.
2. Discuss the background of this person, aircraft or development that led to its important contribution.
3. Discuss the challenges and barriers confronting the success of this aircraft, person or development.
4. Define the lasting impact this has had on aviation in today’s world.

You may do this in Essay form or Paragraph form (where you address each of these 4 points)

1500-2000 – penalties if outside these numbers. References and any title should not be included in the word count.

Don’t double Space

Use APA format for references, or any acceptable format for references. This means you MUST cite any quotes. I prefer the standard ‘blah, blah, blah’ Smith (2001) this means you cited Mr Smith from some published material.

Then in the References section at the back of you paper you can list that reference in detail.

No papers on Chuck Yeager or Kelly Johnson (they are legends but I am sick of reading about them)

Policy Analysis and Evaluation

Please use US American Sources!

Policy analysis is about finding out what governments do, why they do it, and what difference those activities make. One result of that process is considering the termination of a program. However, this is not an easy process.
(1) Why are government programs seldom terminated? Provide at least three reasons in your response.
(2) Please present an example of a government program that should have been terminated and explain how it may have survived (think about stakeholders and their interests).
